Aegon would have turned out a better person in Rhaenyra's company and her kids' legitimacy would not be questioned. Otto's decisions seem cold and calculating when you look at them short-term, but they are actually better for the realm in the long-run. Marrying Jace to Halaena could have healed the rivalry a little bit but still it would not snuff out the possibility of war, but an Aegon-Rhaenyra marriage would have made sure that there was no rivalry in the first place.

Jacaerys Targaryen was the MVP of the dance of the dragons, everywhere he went people followed. The alliances he made endured even after his and his mothers dead. He still commanded respect from lord Stark even after the pact they made to marry Jace's first born daughter to Lord Cregan Stark's son and heir. That pact was null and void on account of Jace being dead. But lord Cregan Stark kept fighting in Rheanyra and Jace's name and I think that had alot to do with how lord Stark perceived Jacaerys Targaryen. If there ever was a king more deserving to sit on the iron throne it was him.

They faced confusion and heartbreak together. Baela also has the strength to give him a swift kick in the pants when he's angry or indecisive. She's ride or die and has the makings of a great warrior and Queen due to her time spent with Rhaenys as she literally helped and watched her grandmother rule Driftmark in Corlys' stead. Luke: innocent looking boy, but was never reprimanded nor made to apologize for hurting Aemond forever. Gets amused by mocking Aemond who minds his own business at dinner table. Jace: worthy of being a king in moral and duty sense, but not by claim. Baela and Rhaena: badasses that truly deserve the throne, by claim and morality. Helaena: the Dreamer who's badly neglected by her father, that could prevent the war if only he spent some time with her and realized she has powers he always wanted.

People love Daemon for being a badass, and are shipping Daemon-Rhaenyra knowing that he groomed her when she was underaged, and the bullied kid (Aemond Targaryen) is in many ways a much better person than anyone on the "good side" and he is supposed to be the future villain of the story. There are people who say he deserved to be bullied and had his eye taken away for calling this guy a bastard (which he is). GRRM likes to bring out the biased nature of humanity in his fanbase this way. Just look at the other comments here, praising him and Daemon, you get the point.

I'm not very familiar with GRRM's work, I saw fanvideos from both GOT and HOTD, but I never started to watch either of the shows, because of violence and the nudity. These may seem weird reasons, but the nudity bothers me because of me beinga Christian and too much violence makes me feel uncomfortable. But I believe these shows are worth watching otherwise. And yes, I've seen comments praising him, that's also why I didn't really understand your comment. But now it's clear. Jace would have been the second coming of Jaehaerys. Yes, his features would calls to murmurs about his lineage, but he literally got Arrax. Doesnt get anymore Targaryen than that. (Reminds me of that one time the old king scare away someone just by feeding Vermithor) (spoiler alert) I cant wait to see how theyre gonna handle Sara snow in the upcoming season. She is pretty much inconsequential, so scraping her make sense especially after estabilishing how upright Jace is. Then again this show is full of boy meet girl, sleeps together, forget concequences (robb stark, jon snow). She could be the first time Jace choose something for himself instead of his duties, or the power of being, even contested, Prince of Dragonstone.

I can’t believe they made the strong boys so lanky and scrawny looking. Harwin was a sturdy hearty man with a big body mass and tall. I would have never pictured his sons like this. They seem so short and small for their age. The way Aemond was able to push jace away was comical. The way they look u wouldn’t think they could win any fight let alone one with Alicent’s kids that have been trained with one of best swordsman and fighters at this time. They should have made it look somewhat even imo. I know they are still a bit young but jace the oldest is supposed to be like 19 maybe 20, at that age ur not going to have much more growing and definitely not any big growth Spurts that add height and mass. They looked heartier when they were younger. It just makes no sense why they would depict them this way story wise, because it doesn’t come out to a very compelling story knowing how it ends the first thing that comes into my mind was like well yeah of course they lost against Allison‘s kids.

Why it makes sense is that they are spoiled and coddled like their mother. Relying on the King and Daemon to defend them. Judging from Luke’s smirking at Aemond, they also seem to lack awareness that a war is even coming. She hasn’t been training them and Daemon barely pays attention to his own daughters, it makes sense he’s neglected to teach his stepsons how to fight. It also makes perfect sense Aemond who got maimed and had no backup from the King would see himself as having to protect himself, mom, and brother alone. He’s bigger because he took training seriously and Aegon is lazy so he’s basically stopped growing
