i’m on day 11 today and i feel pretty good, day 6 was the absolute worst for me but i have a pretty high pain tolerance so it was bearable. my best advice would be to to keep up with your meds, i took my tylenol and ibeprofen together for about a week ( 8 days to be exact) . don’t be in a rush to eat regular foods again and don’t force yourself to try to eat if it hurts too bad. the most important thing is to stay hydrated! i feel like drinking lots of water feels really soothing on the throat and may help with the healing process. solid foods HURT when they get stuck in the pockets where your tonsils used to be so stuck with liquids until the pain is very minimal. Day 11 so far is pretty good for me i haven’t taken and meds since day 9 and it gets easier by the day. i hope everyone recovers fast and safely!💕

I’m on day 5 right now. Honestly it hasn’t been horrible except the pain in my ears and around my jaw because it feels so tight. I’m also super hungry which is annoying me the most, but I’ve been keep up with fluids which have helped a lot. I really only took pain meds the first two days and 1 yesterday for the ear pain. Hoping the rest of recovery is quick mainly to eat normal again. Glad you posted this video so I can relate to someone who had done it previously!

The worst part of this for me is the pain every time I swallow something. I have to brace for it every single time. Just eats away at me mentally. If I my mouth doesn't do much, then it doesn't hurt. Day 6 for me currently counting the day the morning of surgery. So far, Day 1-3, constant pain at 1/10 until I swallow, which turns to 3/10 in pain. Day 4-6, no more constant pain and swallow is a 2/10-3/10. (My pain tolerance is higher than most, I think). I'm keeping up with my water, mostly doing my best to finish 64oz per day minimum, but on day one, it was too much, and I projectiled into the kitchen garbage. The best thing to eat for me so far has been vanilla and chocolate pudding. Lowest amount of pain going down. Clear broth at room temp as well helps with liquid intake. Followed by jello and congee. Doing this for my sinus issues; good luck to everyone else. And those who are still in it: FIGHTING!

The pain is manageable around day 3-4. But now I'm at day 5, the pain spiked 10/10. It really hurts and I'm really starving but all I can swallow is a smoothie. Been coughing since day 3. When I cough, it's like my entire head is in pain. Taking mucolytic helps lessen the coughing.

I just got mine out about 15 hours ago and one thing I gotta talk about that’s been horrible for me that like no one has mentioned..My Uvula is so swollen for 1 that it feels like my entire throat is blocked, also.. my saliva is so thick and mixed with mucus, that I am terrified to sleep. I don’t want to choke on my saliva. I am not sure what to do about it, besides swallowing along with pain and trying not to choke on my saliva. It’s a bit torturous. I am not sure if possibly I just salivate more than most people, but it’s all bad. Anyways seeing all this is encouraging. If y’all can do it I can 🙌🏽

They also don't tell you that when you cough while it's still swollen it makes you cough even more. Did you notice that if you don't drink frequently enough and your saliva starts to become this. Then, even on Day 4, it's like the Lidocaine they put in comes off in the saliva so your tongue feels a bit numb. It's wild.

During the tonsillectomy procedure a metal spoon shaped device is used to move the patients tongue to the side. It's kinda barbaric looking as it clicks to adjust. Tongue pain post surgery is very common due to this.

I feel for you love. My daughter is 25 and she just had her tonsills out last Friday here in Perth, Western Australia, so she is now on day seven. It has been hell for her especially after the ‘honeymoon phase’ of days 1 to 3. The meds made her feel so whacked out and she would wake up during the night in so much pain. She realised she needed to set her alarm and make sure she took her meds six hourly instead of waiting until morning. Thankfully she hasn’t been sick with them though. Also on day two she had a small bleed but we bought her an iced drink and it cauterised the wound and stopped the bleeding, so I agree that iced drinks are really helpful. May I ask you how long before you were completely pain free?

@@mr.claytonbigsby4342 It really varies from person to person. My recovery went a lot smoother than what I expected from watching people describing their experience with it online. My pain was constant but really not all that bad. Make sure to keep taking painkillers. Don't take too many, but it's generally OK to take more than what the doctor prescribes, as doctors tend to play it extremely safe with dosage. Personally going a bit extra on painkillers made the recovery a lot more manageable for me. To answer your question, the bad pain really only went away on day 10 or so, and it went away completely after about 2 weeks. I've heard that it takes longer for some people and the intensity varies. For example, my pain steadily decreased after day 4 or so, while others say that days 7-8 are the worse. Just keep in mind that after day 5 is when the risk of bleeding or rupture is the highest, so be careful less you want to risk having to redo the procedure. I'm not going to bother you with the additional standard advice because I'm sure the doctor told you everything you need to know. One other thing that I will tell you though, which the doctor might have not told you, is that it's very important to not talk more than you have to, and try to talk softly and quietly. I could talk more or less normally right away, but I'm a loud talker and sure enough after a long conversation quite a bit of pain followed, so there's that, be careful. Best of wishes and good luck with your recovery.

@daniels0376 29 күн бұрын
@@isabellaperez2856 Metamizole sodium and paracetamol at the same time. I think I might have popped a few pills of ibuprofen too but I can't remember. Again I took a bit more than the doctor told me but if you're a healthy adult going a bit over what is recommended for a few days won't really hurt you. For example I'd take it 5 a day instead of 3 at least for the first week. I am 6 feet 3&1/2 and a bit overweight too so maybe stick to the recommended dose if you're a smaller person. I had no complications and everything was completely healed up after 14 days, but already by day 10 I was mostly done with the pain. Your process might take a bit longer but remember it's a one and done deal and chronic tonsillitis s**ks *ss, so it's completely worth it. Good luck bro/sis, you got it 🫶🏻❤️🫂

Does anyone know why the pain medicine doesn't work? It seems this is super painful for everyone so I wonder why it doesn't work and is there one that works best? Thanks.
@abbyparker1749

I think they say it doesn’t work because it might take some pain away but it won’t take the uncomfortableness away, which is normal because there’s two open wounds in the back of your throat

I’m on day two and it’s very bearable since I have a super high pain tolerance I’m just powering through eating Chic Fil A ice cubes, star shaped tiny pasta, and lots of Gatorade. Only annoying thing is a fever ONLY ON MY CHEEKS. My SPO2 is 100 and all vitals are fine but it’s just annoying having this only cheek fever, but it’s because of the cheeks being near to the site of the trauma and healing. Another thing, CHIC FIL A ICE CUBES WILL SAVE UR LIFE, they are so small and great to suck on to numb the pain while you drink :) also taking Hydrocodone every 4 hours, including the night.
