Works like magic! Well it’s not magic but yet again, Billy has a way of explaining and demonstrating exactly what fixes frustrations in playing. Thank you for sharing this!

I never knew why it always felt like I was about to drop my bow. These exercises and the explanation of the mechanism are so incredibly helpful. Feels like my whole bow hand finally fell into place. Thank you so much!

Is this the concept for an up bow?

I started playing 2 weeks ago tomorrow, at the age of 33. Coming from guitar and musical background, which helps. But cello is it's own animal... It's nice to see other adult learners who have been successful learning the instrument.

Thank you! Could you do a video about “sotie”? Fast bowing which is needed in 2 movement of Elgar Cello Concerto? I will be very grateful 🙏🏻🌷

Just so you can look for other resources if he doesn't see this comment, it's spelled "sautille"

I do not agree with conventional wisdom. The u shaped position of the Frog is a natural position. The hypothenar muscle group is a natural muscle aid to allow the thumb and 5th finger to oppose one another. It is a natural movement. The conventional bow grip does not follow normal physiology. All of the conventional wisdom is not anatomical. Hence, invites overuse syndrome and, therefore, pain. Would recommend thumb position to be in the U of the bow. There are,in fact, famous cellists who grip their bow in this fashion.
