My guesses were way more accurate than theirs about childhood stuffed animals and caprisun, I imagine because as Gen Z gets older and we see more nostalgia culture following the "End of History", there's an enormous emphasis on how nice things were before, to the point that people our age have little access to new things out in the real world and are encouraged to find comfort and cope with a deteriorating economy in our own homes and memories. We weren't taught how to be adults, we were just rewarded for being good, obedient, people-pleasing children and we're still having to teach ourselves how to grow beyond that.

The only place I've seen a VCR in the last 10 years: I worked at a Pizza shop in Nova Scotia a few years that was trying really hard to push a 90s New York vibe. They had a Cathode Ray TV, hooked up with VCR and N64. Pretty sizable VHS collection too, a lot of us loved thrifting so we'd find gems every so often.
