I'm an expert/buff on special effects, and I noticed something on my twelfth viewing of this episode: if you look really carefully at the zipline scene with the explosions, you can tell that Decker is CGI. A real human would be killed in the flames. Amazing stuff.

optosi Look again, mi amigo! If you go frame by frame, you can see the edges of some of the trees are moving but the branches and trunks aren't. In actuality, they CGI'd some of the explosions OUT OF the film! Tim was whizzing past hella lot explosions, but the test audiences found it too incredible, even for Decker (chumps, right?). So they had to remove some of the expolsions in post.

Hi, I'm a Vice President at Industrial Light and Magic and also do work for Adobe Digitial Systems and I can tell you all those are NOT effects, at least none I have seen commercially available, there is simply not the compute capacity to create this.

Really effective use of action and montage during the whole zip line sequence which gave it an epic feel, whereas most mini-series would be content with a single sequence depicting this. It's got a variety of scenarios and tempos it goes through, which gives a sense of hunt to the cat and mouse chase between Decker and the terrorists.

***** If you check the "Previously on Decker" segment, you'll see the word "Listening Device" underneath the red light. Even though it kind of looks like a subtitle for the video cassette, it was actually a label indicating that the blinking red light was a listening device, installed in the cassette by the Tallyban to listen in to Keefton's conversations. You need a sharp eye to catch all the details!! I hope that helps.

i have to say tim makes great use of all the great resources hawaii has to offer when filming his episodes. it was very smart of him to write them into the plot so that it seamlessly expands the universe at little cost! this is screenwriting mastery, people, take notes!

This episode was high on action. I genuinely felt the breakneck pace that Decker was moving along the abandoned zipline, and it's a bit nervewracking just watching him. Not many other films can capture that kind of white-knuckle intensity.

One thing I didn't catch until I watched this episode the third time is that the reason the terrorists know Decker is coming is that they overheard Klinkton talking about it with the listening device they planted in the VHS!
