You answered your own question. There are so many variations of components, and likely theyd assume your putting new clutch in. when i got my adapter plate to go from Mercedes diesel to lakewood gm to ford transmission. 500. Just thee adapter fro crank and block and new BLOCK and cranck bolts ONLY.I had to supply bell housing bolts, new gear reduced mini starter, 1 ford clutch kit and 1 gm clutch kit, 168 tooth heavy flywheel, hydraulic clutch, correct length clutch fork, correct throw out bearing. theres so many variables to contend with, its just not a easy 1 size fits all. theres always other ways it could go. then add in preferences within those and your way way out there.

I have made/used adapter plates all my life and never had any issues. Plate allows you to retain 100% of factory parts 98% of the time.

How thick did you make the plate? Was it aluminum or steel? Any problems with dowel or bolt interference? Then did you make an extended pilot bearing?

Hey there, I just watched video of the bellhousing to 350 & I just want to thank you. Info was the best I've had yet. Been a sbc guy for 50 yrs now & have built & raced them drags, dirt track, offroad,etc. Am used to building my own components. I very interested in what you do & hope to hear from you as i have 86-87 toyota 4x4 p/u parts as well as many chevy parts I've kept. Thanks ted reyes .

I wouldn’t recommend this just because usually cast car parts are injected by force into the molds to reduce air bubbles and other impurities that could cause it to break. Doing it at home, you don’t necessarily have control over those things. Not that it wouldn’t work because it definitely would work. I personally just wouldn’t trust something that I casted myself.

Very informative. Thanks. I have a 22re in a 91 4x4 pickup and im not impressed with it. Only got about 50k miles on a rebuild and the rod bearings are rattling when its cold. So its getting replaced with a 350. Their so much simpler and easier to rebuild. Pity you have to spend so much money

I flat refused to pay out all that money. I used cheap universal motor mounts and a 700r4. It was built for a v8 not a four banger, it's inexpensive and sturdy. I never cut my drive shaft at all, I simply used a u joint conversion. There's only a little over an inch difference in the Toyota (4cyl) 5 speed trans and the 700r4, so it all dropped right in place. Paid a local welding shop 50 bucks to make the trans mount. Stock rear end and drive shaft have held up beautifully on a 2 wd daily driver with about 325 ish horsepower. I did my ENTIRE swap for less than you paid for your bell housing

Does this bellhousing also fit Buick-Olds-Pontiac engines? It looks like it has both patterns but want to know from someone who already bought one. Would be pretty neat to put a turbo 3.8 in something or maybe a Buick small block:)

To be on the SAFE side, Go to a Junkyard with some cardboard and copy the bolt pattern from a transmission that mated to the same engine you are wanting to use. A can of spraypaint is the FASTEST way to copy it with the most accuracy.

Wouldn't you need a gear reduction starter on the 153 tooth flywheel? It would need more torque than the 168 toorh one. Right?

I'm considering swapping my 2.7L 3RZ motor in a Hilux (Tacoma) 4WD for a 4.8L Vortec. The vehicle has a W56 transmission. How do the W56 transmissions stand up to the power of the V8? I see lots of comments online about the R150/151 gearboxes being much stronger but how much of an issue is it really?

THE 4-Cyl trans (w56 or g56 or whatever) did a damn good job with a 454 BBC. The r150 (v6 trans) lasted about a year with my 5.3 swap.

What clutch pressure plate and flywheel did you use in the 4cyl w56 adapter? was it a 168 tooth or 153 tooth and was the pressure plate the 10.5” 2 bolt patter or was it the 11” pressure plate with the 3 bolt pattern?

Dude, this was like 6 or 7 years ago.... All i know for sure is the pressure plate came in a clutch kit for a corvette. I had to throw the clutch away because it wouldnt work with the toyota tranny. When it was BBC, i used a trucks 5.3 flywheel (incredibly rare and hard to find) not many vehicles had the 5.3 with a manual trans. 11" pressure plate sounds familiar. Wait, mabey it was 11" with the BBC, and.... Fuck dude, i dont know. Do what i did. Buy shit and figure it out. Post it in youtube and watch peiple bitch about it. Thats the Syrus54 way.....

I was using the Same ($150/pair) of Engine to Chassis mounts for the Big Block & Small Block. But I had to make some completely Custom mounts for the LS Swap (video coming soon). The Clutch Slave Cylinder, is supposedly from a Land Cruiser. I had to buy that Separately. Everything is Separate, as specified in this video.

I’ve got a mk3 Supra with a W58 I’m trying to do a very mild SBC swap on. Would the W56 transmission adapter work? And where did you find that clutch disk?

Any v8 chevy will work with this adapter (all chevy v8s have the same pattern with the exception of the ls, which has one Bolt that is in a different place, but it does not affect performance/application) I'm pretty sure I also got the clutch from advance adapters. But they are not going to sell a racing clutch, so if thats your plans, you're better off going with a Chevy transmission.

Does the standard 4 cylinder gearbox hold up ? I only ask cause i Got an 85 with just a 215cu small block running on the trucks original 4 cylinder diesel gearbox n they don’t last long usually the clutch would start to go first then the gearbox would go 😂 help advise please 🙏

I'd say a v8 is too much on an Toyota transmission. Generally a v6 4.3 would be sufficient. The tcase would hold up to a v8 and 700r4 only if built up.

I run a tbi 4.3l in my Toyota. 410s I broke alot, 488s help but birfields break. U joints and everything else seems to hold up fine. Been running this setup for 10 years now

Calling it a scam seems a lot like victim mentality. They are selling a bellhousing, not a conversion kit. Advanced adapters is a business meant for builders. You can think it's a scam, but selling the pieces individually is actually a benefit most companies won't give you. A cast reproduction bellhousing for a stock application is typically $400. A lakewood SFI scattershield is $700. If you genuinely think that this custom application, low demand, specialty bellhousing with custom spec clutch fork is overpriced at $465 ... then we'll never see eye to eye. However, ... dual drilled pattern, that's a great idea! If it didn't cause oblonged holes or compromised the integrity of the flange, that would be a killer option!

The aisin R series trans behind the turbo 22rs, and V6s is ubiquitous and strong. R 154s handle up to 700whp in supras. Jeep ax-15, GM ma-5/ar-5 use the same architecture with minor changes

I really hate your videos because of how much you complain and the lack of knowledge you have, however you are the only one to have a video showing the actual swap where as others post a 1 minute video showing it in but doesn’t explain anything. With that said, the reason there is different bell housings is because if you drilled both bolt patterns into the same housing the metal would be almost non existent there and would break the first time you got on it. So before you complain and call it a scam just think about why they did it that way. Because you would really be complaining if it broke almost immediately. You have to buy the clutch separately because it is a wearable item so instead of buying the entire kit every time you need a clutch, they sell it separately to keep the cost down. Maybe just a little bit of outside thinking would help you out a lot
