Like, I'm not saying terrian based firepower boosts are dumb, that's Lash's whole thing, not to mention Candy/Kindle's 30% firepower on cities is RIDICULOUS, but Jake's I can kinda get. Plains are a very common terrian, so having a firepower boost there is nice. But on roads? Roads are only really good if you have units that move on tires, and even then you want to move them off the road at the last possible moment so they at least have SOME defence. Like, it'd have made more sense to have a character who gains attack boosts, or even defence boosts, on bridges, since you can then use units to block those bridges more effectively.

Just outside a small city occupied by Orange Star, what wildlife hasn't been smart enough to get out of the battlefield falls silent. The silence is broken by the sound of turbocharged engines, screaming as they spin at speeds they were never designed to go. A recon squad zips past in a flash, with two squads of Black Hole's high-tech tanks right behind. A damaged APC headed in the opposite direction almost spins out of control and barely recovers, then continues onward, smoke pouring out of the back of it. Finally, five rocket trucks pull up and suddenly stop, having been made to travel at highway speeds over the rough ground. Smoke drifts in as the tanks blow away several AA guns, allowing the T-Copter waiting behind the mountains to swoop in and drop a squad of infantry next to the enemy HQ. Super CO Power Trail of Woe is active.

5 Black Hole tanks sit on a road next to a mountain. The commander of one of the tanks is receiving orders from Adder on the radio. He warns the tank commander that the laser cannons fell, and that they need to move to the bridge to provide cover for the infantry. Suddenly, many rockets fly from the mountain, 3 of them hitting and destroying their targets. The commander looks towards the mountain, scared and confused. A Yellow Comet mech squad overlooks the road wielding their bazookas. The last 2 tanks move in to fight back, but the mechs are already gone. The commander orders his and the last other surviving tank to commence pursuit, and the tanks move towards the mountains. While driving through grassy hills, the tanks encounter the mechs again. They fire their cannons and machine guns, but the mechs dodge the machine gun fire like samurai and the high ground protects them from cannon fire. They then fire back, destroying both tanks. A very wounded commander limps from the rubble and sees the mechs moving towards their position, armed with assault rifles. He tries to run away, but gets gunned down. *Samurai Spirit is active.*

Just a fun note I’m not sure is still known (it was a source of a lot of laughter when the game first came out) - Koal and Rachel have 65% Tag COP synergy. That’s lower than Eagle/Hawke and Lash/Olaf and is in fact the lowest possible. The only reasoning anybody could use to justify it was that he called her ugly.

Probably a reference to how bad Koal is as s CO. Seriously, sans Flak he probably is the weakest CO. His increased mobement is nice, but it takes longer to fill than Adder; and the road bonus is trash because it forces you to put units on roads... which have zero defense, to use it, meaning anything you attack with is vulnerable to counterattacks, and while it might be worth it anyways if the attack boost is great enough... it’s just +10% day to day, and only gets boosted by 10 or 20 percent more if you use his COP and SCOP respectively, which isn’t enough to offset the vulnerability you give your units by putting them on the roads to use the increased attack, especially since they will take more damage and thus counterattacks, while stronger than for most, will still be minimal. Plus, roads are rare so using them to your advantage to make use of the increased offense to break through enemy defensive formations is hard in many maps. Compare to kindle, who has a 40% increased day to day on cities. This means any unit you put next to a city might potentially be one shot if kindle gets on it with the right unit, and if she gets a unit on a city attacking it is futile unless you have a stronger unit or more than one unit of that type to gang up on it with, as a single unit attacking a kindle unit of the same type on a city will do limited damage and take severe counterattack damage, rendering the exchange highly cost inefficient. And this offense boost is only increased even more if you use urban blight, or especially high society. And of course you can’t block the cities to prevent kindle from getting them because then she’ll take 3 hp away with urban blight and likely beat what’s left into submission with her units; not to mention the repair drain you get to your money when it affects units you just built snd they auto repair next turn, even if you keep all other units off cities that cannot be avoided and that can weaken your ability to ward off her forces. All in all, kindle is solid, not outright broken like colin and not as strong as cos like hawke, but still pretty darn good

His tag power with Adder is really good: -Simple to use -Fastest charge time that makes sure that you get the tag first -And that damn movement bonus that just makes unit placement too easy

@@ScoTEven True, but it's kinda better to use that as a sort of COP gatling gun. Fire off Sideslip, switch to Koal, fire off Forced March, switch to Adder. You'll have +1 movement pretty much every other turn once the fighting starts. Still on his own, Koal is a joke. _Adder_ is arguably better simply due to a more spammable COP that does mostly the same thing, and he's generally ranked as one of the worst COs (again, on his own. Tags can outright break certain COs and change up the dynamics massively. For example, Drake and Olaf on their own are both mediocre, but have one of the most devastating tags in the game doing 4HP of mass damage, cutting half of the enemy's fuel and ammo and then leaving them having to trudge through snow which consumes twice the amount of fuel for movement.)

Blackout:would cost 15 stars and makes all units the enemy deploys unable to move for a turn.

Considering Adder and Koal had a tag power, it feels weird that Flak and Jugger didn't have a tag power either, I would love for their victory quotes to be something like them arguing about their victory, something where Jugger would calculate his contribution and stuff but Flak wouldn't really understand them considering his rampant stupidity. It's like a smart guy and a moron arguing with one another but they can't convince each other. Another one could be Adder and Flak, Lash and Hawke had their Tag Power, so why not the other two BH COs who attacked Macro Land. They really left Adder and (mostly) Flak in the dust, Flak only had a Tag with Lash and Lash had a better synergy with Hawke anyways.

In the PAL version (that is, Europe and Australia entirely) he is called Zak. Kindle is called Candy. Hawke is called Maverick. The US version changed the names of some of the characters, and generally the PAL version is closer to the Japanese version in terms of names.

Maybe it has to do more with the COs than anything else. I’m pretty sure it’s stated by Nell in Advance Wars (1) that a CO’s COP/SCOP is energy within them as they battle, or at least alluded to. That’s what I’ve always thought.

In the European release, which I played, his name is Zak. That is a silly name. Koal is a much better one. (Also Kindle is Candy. I don't even know. I mean, I suppose it fits the vapid socialite she pretends to be?)

Zak is much closer to its Japanese name, and I dunno, it sounds like something swift or quick. Which Zak is supposed to be. Koal... what's the relation of this guy with coal ? As for Kinlde/Candy... I actually like Candy, but it's more debatable. Zak makes more sense to me.
