I don't know what the future has in store for Super Smash Bros., but Advance Wars has yet to get a playable fighter.

Technically we got an Advance Wars rep as an Assist Trophy in Brawl, but they were just generic Orange Star units. If they were to put an Advance Wars fighter into a new Smash, I'd imagine it'd be Andy, Max, and Sami in a single tank, like in the final scene and box art. They'd probably be as big and heavy as Bowser, if not even more so, unless they shrink everyone down to a comically small size.

​@@ADoodGuyI was thinking either that or the Infantry and Tanks. Little Mac from Punch-Out!! and Isabelle from Animal Crossing both got promoted from Assist Trophies to playable fighters. Infantry and Tanks might have a chance with that possibility.

Games from that are 2D Sprite will hold up forever because the 2D Sprite graphics never look bad or dated. They are timeless and perfect.

Cartoon opening is great. But holy crap, the models are just ass. Pixel art from the original is just miles ahead in terms of visual look.

It falls in to the trap where even bad pixel art will look better than average 3D art. Game companies still seem dead-set on the idea of bringing games to 3D as though we're still living in the late 90's. 3d isn't a 'novel' feature anymore, so if a game is going to go from 2D to 3D it better look damn good.

@@terminator27270 There's going for the 'childish/toy-like' aesthetic, and then there's putting out a final result that looks like one of those mobile game ads that are use fake gameplay. I understand what you're getting at, but that just isn't the case for the Advance Wars remake. I personally hate when companies just add anti-aliasing, and upscale the resolution to old games and call it a 'remake', but if this outcome is the alternative I'd prefer the 'lazy' treatment 10 times out of 10.

Ah yes. The slideshow of still PNGs with basic gameplay footage vs A fully animated introduction to all the characters with ther personalities and playstyles subtly shown and even a completely new small segment added. Quite frankly the only thing the OLD one does better, is show more of the non Orange-Star COs, who are however presented in the same "basic stll PNG" style.

Which is true the battle animation of the ogs are way better, but the new game blows the old opening out of the water and in the stratosphere. If only they made it a pixel 3D game like octopath traveler, it would have been perfect.
