@@Mac_Omegaly What sucked about it? I know people say Super Famicom Wars is pretty good.
@Mac_Omegaly3 жыл бұрын
@@meathir4921 I mean it was more a personal thing. Hex grid tactical games require a lot larger amount of work to figure out viable Stratagy. Spoiled by Advance Wars 1+2, I found the unit choices lacking and it was much more about just pile diving each most dangerous unit every turn. (Which is a legit tactic but without CO powers it was a lot of tedium.) If you move a unit into an area by it self, potentially 6 other units could run up and fire on it. This ment that to win most fights you had to pick units that could group together, forming less of a tactical formation, and more like a blob of units. It's a different beast. But I'm sure if I had it over Vattle Guise as my pack in game when I got the Gameboy, I would have enjoyed it at the time it came out. (My cheap Dad bought my Gameboy second hand from a Japanese student. But at least he also bought Z:Links Awakening brand new to make up for it. The system came with 3 Japanese games... Tetris, Baseball, Vattle Guise and an English version of Mario Land 2.

There are several reasons, I'm sure. I know that there were at least two genesis games that used hex grid and they were alright. But ultimately if I remember correctly. The orginal had square grids, and fans liked those versions better. Also Americans got Advance Wars first, before Japan. So they looked at what was popular for tactics games durring development and saw FFT PS1 getting loads of love. So they doubled down on grids. The new powers system helped to make battles more interesting and less frustrating to the American audience. (Who "needed" to have more easy games to sell well.)

I played AW 1 and 2 and Days of Ruin and in all 3 games, I was not able to beat the last mission xD ... In this respect, the games have been consistent: the last mission always had to be the most unfair and difficult...I always had the feeling that you could only survive this mission with a lot of luck, and I just wasn't up for that.

The final mission in AW2 honestly isn't that hard.

Understandable, although I think AW2 isn't that hard. AW1 on the other hand is more about tedious rather than difficult. DoR on the other hand... Yeah trully a final boss material.
