No problem! Thanks for watching! Basic color grading would be fine, but if you add many power windows or tracking windows it will slow things down a bit. But the adjustment layer part itself will not. If things do get slow you can try using optimized media or proxies. Another trick is to lower your project resolution until you are ready to export, then raise it to the desired resolution. Hope this makes sense.

I've tried to use this method to color grade. But whenever there's a cross disolve between two clips, and the adjustment layers is cut between them as well because the next clip need other adjustment than the first clip, then I run into problems. It doesn't work well. And I can't crossdissolve between adjustment layers. Is there something I am missing? For now, I always cut and paste all the adjustment on the clips and remove all the adjustment layers on top of the two clips with the cross disolve in between. Don't know if I explained this so someone understands...

I know exactly what you mean! To solve this what I do is finish my grade and then turn the adjustment layers and the clip into a compound clip, then apply the cross dissolve. I have to do the same method for pip shots too. So far this is the best method I’ve found in Final Cut Pro to grade in an organized way. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

wait 8:27 I think the video is Rec. 709 for input on the custom LUT, on the command line type `mediainfo` and drag the file there, press enter also, when comparing the panasonic lut with a lutcalc conversion, the panasonic one definitely has a bad green tint eventually, I realized I like the HLG saturation, similar to SDR saturation from VLog but going to 2020 rather than 709 generated from stops -4 to 4 with 0.3ev increments rec 709 to rec 2020 hlg, in a fcpx PQ timeline

Great tuts bro. But since all the adjustment layer are the same, why not just rename the clip in FCPX without having to go into Motion at all, so all you need is one adjustment layer and you just right click, rename clip and name it accordingly and make the adjustment you need.
