Hard disagree about making the tenpai player go first being incorrect, at least in this current format. The best thing that tenpai is usually doing going first is setting up a seals and some backrow, which most decks are currently playing through. You can even continue to side in the going first cards that you normally would against this deck (dbarrier etc) and they’ll still be effective since they don’t set up anything particularly threatening going first Also droplet is a much stronger card for this deck than shifter and shifter should almost exclusively be used as a going first card since it pigeonholes you into otking with just trident dragion which can be fragile sometimes

Yeah, Kenny tries to make it sound like every 1 card starter 20 hand trap deck is the same but it's not. This deck's best board is seal pass a lot of the times (yes im aware there are other combos, but you need to invest ED slots and/or not eat HT yourself or draw into non engine extenders), and HTs becomes a lot less effective when you go second into a weak board with a battle phase. You will still make this deck go first as its opponent for that reason, at least for LEDE. We can reassess INFO when it hits.

Nice explanations, but there are three points where I strongly disagree, and I'm certain you haven't discovered these for yourself: 1.) Link Package remains challenging to execute effectively. Failing to clear their backrow to force a D-Barrier often leads to playing into it, making it difficult to achieve an OTK. Additionally, remember that you still require another monster besides your two bodies for Hiita to pop one for Princess. 2.) D Shifter isn't a good card to main because it not only calls into question some deck choices but also renders your goal more fragile to achieve. A single interruption can disrupt your OTK, resulting in a significant loss of resources as they are all banished, while your opponent likely retains more resources, leaving you with no grind game. 3.) Have you encountered matchups against unaffected monsters like Fucho or Expurrely Noir? Your deck lacks outs to such threats. As opponents adapt their strategies, staying ahead of them is crucial for remaining competitive.

I would play shifter only when I'm forces to go first, so you have clean 3rd turn for otk try.

Shifter main was good at the last event, since it was expected to see a ton of Snake-Eyes players and they won't really do much under Shifter. Now, it would be better to side the card. Although, need to see how popular Melodious will be too. The Link package is sadly kind of necessary, you can take it out, but you will have quite a few situations where you just lose from it. You could play without it, but you will lose to not having it sometimes and it's sad. I really think Santa Claws should always be played, specifically for like you said, towers and the likes.
@David-hw9si6 ай бұрын
@@invertfriend Santa Claws is good specifically against Skull Guardian and Fucho. You're not that concerned with towers because you can usually just beat over them with a boosted Trident Dragion or (if you can't afford it) Transcendent Dragon. I think the biggest towers in the game right now is probably a Rising Rebellion Falcon at 5300 which is manageable with engine

@@David-hw9simay I ask which card you mean with “Supreme Dragon”?
@David-hw9si6 ай бұрын
@@nicholasmanfrinato1876 Transcendent, the Tenpai level 10. Not sure why I was thinking supreme. It has 3k attack so doubling it would be 6k which is enough to get over 5300.

I agree that putting too much emphasis on going first with Tenpai is incorrect. The going first cards like D. Barrier shouldn't be live most of the time because Tenpai almost always wants to go second. Besides, the upcoming Tenpai Trap is really all the deck needs if forced to go first, so investing money on a going first engine right now might end up being a waste of money (especially heatwave, no common should be $20).
@zachchristian226 ай бұрын
Still fell you need Heat Wave for the mirror. There's no way you don't get forced to go first if your opponent is choosing. Against other matchups though, it's probably not going in.

Super insightful and always a fan of your videos and theories. I’m interested in your take on the mirror. I feel like cards like d barrier and heat wave are only sided in for the mirror but I agree with you that I don’t think those cards are strong in other match ups and hand traps help in siding mind games more than cards like board breakers or going first cards. I’m also finding that striker dragon and dharc are coming up a lot more in testing when you play against yubel, lab, etc. where they put d barrier in and you can make link plays to kill them

Only two decks should ever make you contemplate going first. Centurion Branded
@donaxygo6 ай бұрын
I'm actually going first post side vs centurion every time, imo it's your best bet, but depends on the build. Vs branded I go second, side everything I have and hope it works

Thoughts on droplet? It's pretty big on clearing your hand and full stopping your opponent if they set up some board.

he's main decking shifter, you main one or the other because they conflict. definitely can side the other.

Heat wave for mirror because they’ll for sure make you go first, and the deck is so cheap that a lot of people will be playing it

I agree that they are unlikely to send you first and so there is no point in having all those slots for unusable cards. But isn't the power of being able to go first against decks like runick that you have a super bad mu with and making secret village something to consider? Same with flunder and zombi world but also necrovalley and snakeye. Plus shifter is super strong but under shifter don't we risk losing from mono ht? Isn't it stronger to use it going first? I think already with an impermanence under shifter you lose with a normal hand. Preferring ht to cards like droplet i can understand even if it is sometimes crucial, will you maybe bring a video where you cover similar points? Thank you very much

You need to play cosmic and droplet. Play against stun 4 rounds out of 8 and your deck list is gonna look different. I go to seattle regionals which are notorious for runick stun and this deck struggles against floodgates being protected by hugin.

I disagree with a lot of points made in this video. 1) I think the link package is garbage especially if you can't force d barrier in main phase 1, also it can easily disrupted. 2) Also going 1st with Tenpai post game 1 is not bad, especially if your opponent is expecting to make them go first. 3) Shifter is not main deck worthy. 4) Dropplet is mandatory as well as crossout designator. 5) I prefer cyclone over storm/duster.
