you straight up have the best guides/explanations. You might not be rank 1 or anything, but you have a real talent of breaking stuff down in a very non condescending way. You actually have the mind to break it down barney style and make a 40 minute vid instead of 10-15 minute "guides" that other high elo players do that just describes theory, but doesn't go super indepth on how to put it to practice along with explanations on other variables. Don't ever think your vids are too long. Anyone really trying to learn will watch all of it. I really appreciate you actually caring and not just doing this for views or revenue.

I think many high ELO players don't even understand a lot of this stuff at a conscious level. They learned it intuitively from a ton of experience at a young age... much like picking up a language.

This micro videos are amazing. It made me realize that I have been getting considerably worse at laning since I started fully focusing on my macro. I used to focus purely on the 1 VS 1 and kinda thought about these concepts even if no one ever taught them to me (they are partially inate for people who play competitive games), but after I started learning about minion wave management, warding, etc.. I somehow felt like I got worse at mid lane and this videos finally helped me understand why

I agree. I feel that my climb out of bronze silver years ago was because of really good landing. Once In mid gold I had to start focusing on macro plays and carrying through the map, I’ve noticed significant difficulty in laning now.

Going back to your reference to back-clicking at around 23:00 - Not saying this is correct, but when I do this, I do it because I want to trade without them trading back. So it's a fear thing that causes me to do it out of habit. I'm glad you called it out because I do it all the time as an ADC without noticing. Sometimes it causes me to miss a CS or an extra auto on the enemy.

Hello coach Curtis tnx a lot about this episode its really helpful but i have some point that i can’t understand especially in previous vod in this content is that i play melee assassin champ and i feel like when i hold the lane for freezing or slow push i really reduce the ability of my assassin in roaming or invade the jgl and also i cant really hold waves against range champions like oriana so the freeze always break so please coach if u can do tips about melee champ in laning it will be really helpful
@pyrofox4o4 жыл бұрын
So the way it plays out is you want to freeze when lanes aren't gankable. The other thing is you may be playing to passive on the freeze. If they are using enough abilities to break the freeze and shove you in they have nothing to trade with. Farm is important on all champs, but a bit less on assassins. If you have to give a few cs to chunk the mid laner and get lane control or put them in bad position for a gank it's net positive. if you lose a half a wave but force the enemy mid out of lane it's a win. You'll be able to shove, they'll also miss half a wave and you get a roam off. Again if you're having trouble holding freezes that means the mid laner is disrespecting you. Either go agressive on their cooldown or call for a gank
@specialoneekko36704 жыл бұрын
@@pyrofox4o yeah I get the point dude tnx for replay me that's will help me a lot
@elijahp78994 жыл бұрын
Imo freezing on melee champs is often not good unless you are significantly stronger than they are but not strong enough to straight up dive them. The problem with freezing on melees is that you are giving them a minion advantage which will let them win trades. The exception to this is champs like akali and zed where zed can use his weq combo to trade from a distance without aggroing minions too much and akali can ignore minion aggro with her shroud. Personally what I like to do is (when I can) slowpush with these champs and play off bounced waves. This way of playing gives some good but narrow trade windows. Ofc if you are playing to roam this is not always best, that is more situational.
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Pyro below covers some great points, but I'd say one big thing you may be missing is assessing the enemy cooldowns, if you have the wave frozen on your side and they use abilities on the wave to try unfreeze you can use this as a signal to potentially all-in. You won't always have the ability to slowpush but if you can it actually increases your ability to roam because you have more time to roam once the wave crashes :)

Hey Coach! I watch all your videos and thoroughly love them, but I have a common thought that applies throughout almost all of them; How can I translate this information to my champion pool, which is almost always melee mids (Kled, Rumble, Galio)? You give a lot of different orianna matchups which is fantastic! But I always struggle to apply some of these tips from the perspective of a melee mid (i.e. resource trading when my trades are more committed, trading without hitting wave, slow-building and harassing under tower as a melee). I learn most from examples, which might be why I struggle to fully synthesize your information since a lot of them throughout your lane guides are ranged.

Curtis, just clarifying my understanding. when you want to make your laner pick between attacking u or the wave (say when they’re pushing)how do u ensure you don’t get out traded when positioning aggressively and they have creep advantage? I get the idea of resource trading, maybe it even makes them fail in micro, but what is the general idea behind this? I get why it’s an advantage to do this when you’re conversely pushing them in (e.g. they definitely lose something by taking minion aggro damage if they choose u) and Likely fucking up cs. I understand there is a fine line where u can just get a better trade as their focus is on pushing in the wave. Idk

Hey Curtis, I’ve got a question about itemization which I can’t find in your itemization guide (AFAIR). I’m an Aurelion main, and I struggle quite a bit against assassins. Against AD assassins I can itemize somewhat well with Seeker’s Armguard, but against AP assassins like Fizz and Akali I struggle. Is it worth going merc treads just for those champs? Is Nullifying Orb a good rune against these champs? Can I go Banshee’s Veil even though I have to get relatively close to them and/or would get more value from a Zhonya’s overall?
@cestnoel37684 жыл бұрын
Fizz is a very bad matchup for Asol specifically. Zhonyas is still incredibly useful against him and Akali because stasis is op tho. I would say that you don't win lane at all anyway so just wait until you can clear the wave very fast and permaroam to allow your team to carry.
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
On mages my go-to strategy to prevent all-ins from ap assassins especially when playing champs like Orianna, is to have 2x dorans rings and 1x null magic mantle, or even 1x dorans ring with 1x null magic mantle. The HP combined with the MR gives me enough durability to survive most all-ins. but if you are building ROA, even just 1x null magic is incredibly effective and all you need

What do you do when you're in a situation where the wave is on your side of the lane and you're slow building and positioning aggressively but the enemy elects to trade super aggressively against you? The wave would slow push out and leave you chunked and vulnerable to ganks. Is this a situation where you have to take regen into consideration and/or just hard shove the wave out to base and reset for tempo advantage?
@CoachCurtis4 жыл бұрын
Well it should be difficult for them to do this since you should have the minion wave advantage and room to chase them down the lane whereas they can't. Also they should be scared to do so, because the wave is on your side and they will be vulnerable to ganks if they choose to trade aggressively forward. Obviously this can change if they are fed or your team is behind etc, but majority of the time that's the case. But if this does happen, then you should probably call your jg for help to get the wave in if you are too low, or just heavy lean to one side in your big minion wave and get it in from a distance, OR if you are too low, then just accept reality and reset and get your jg to hover while you unfreeze
@N7Null4 жыл бұрын
@@CoachCurtis Thanks for the response. I play a lot of Ori and find myself in this situation sometimes when I'm laning against champions with quick burst trades and/or that have a way of dropping creep aggro with an ability (ie: Fizz/Akali etc). I'll do well in the early levels and then the lane hits a point where I start getting out traded in these sorts of situations but I think that has to do with me not being efficient with my cs'ing and missing my early item spikes as a result or getting ganked early and dying because I don't have the vision/jungler coverage to play up which negates the advantage I had built up in the early levels.

Search for the reasons why you play lol. And if there are none... well... you can stop playing it i guess? xD
@umcaraqualquer36404 жыл бұрын
Just take a break and don't play while tilted. I once had a 7 game loss streak, and spent the following week consistently losing, until I noticed my lack of focus and my autopiloting habits. Just avoid playing Ranked for a day, and then go in a game 200% focused, and you'll get back to your Rank in no time, I assure you Not trying to be that guy, but for christ's sake, you really gotta improve that grammar, man.

I think that I'm just missing one piece, what if you faced.. let's say another Curtis who wanted to do the same strategy on you, what would happen? would it just be like who has range advantage wins every time if neither fuck up or?
@baronvonmixy95974 жыл бұрын
talking about the lane positioning tied to your slow building tactic

I was wondering if we could get some shorter videos? Because I dont have the time to watch a 40 minutes+ video but I want to learn midlane
@yiannibonincontri35524 жыл бұрын
I think if you just watch the parts of the video that you want to watch/can watch at a time and leave the rest of the video you will still be able to learn. Thats what I have been doing.
@janong2624 жыл бұрын
You can watch in chunks or even skip around the vid since it has timestamps
@jasonpapadopoulos77324 жыл бұрын
you can make a playlist for yourself and watch the videos in chunks. :D
@umcaraqualquer36404 жыл бұрын
The videos are divided in sections. I usually just watch the section I want, haha. That's the way I recommend you to watch CC's videos.

Im 11 minutes into the video and allready kinda like it. Still I find it very weird that you are talking about zoning or defending your minionwave without the viewer having vision on your or enemys jungler.. This is very important to know to even think about doing such stuff. Without that knowledge zoning is just inting
