Average Medic main here to confirm that these steps all do attract Medics like flies. Especially number one. I don't play the "free heals for good players" game, but if you want me to hang around you, you need to show me I'm not gonna die if a Soldier jumps in with a Direct Hit for the 12th time. Do that, I'll make sure you live. If for no other reason than so that *_I_* live long enough to do my job instead of watching a respawn timer.

I myself being part Medic Main (I have more than one main), i heal every fucking people, i always try to not pocket people, healing even Spys, Scouts and Snipers (Those can make a difference too) I mean, if the guys is good i will sure try to keep him alive but..If it is not, just common heal.

Yeah, spies can take down the medic and heavy if the medic doesnt turn around, if he turns around, and calls spy the heavy has to turn around, but if the heavy dies cuz of spy the medic at least is alive with some of the uber.

I was using the vaccinator once and I was "pocketing" a heavy and we were turning a corner and there as a soldier there. Of course, the heavy focused the soldier down but then, there turned out to also be a sentry there too. So I ubered bullets THREE TIMES and still the heavy focused the soldier. Yeah I'm ubering BULLETS THREE TIMES because there is a retreating soldier at 40 health. Pls defend medic

I am a medic main, and I was once doing 2cities, when 2 guys started screaming at me because I didn't pocket them and revive them from across the map. Another person started joking about how absurd the 2 people were. I have been friends with that person (the one who was joking about how stupid the 2 guys were) ever since.

Agreed. As a Medic main, I don't care about my Killstreaks and pocketing the biggest baddest guy around for all those Assists. Those are just added bonuses that come along sometimes. No, I just don't want to die as much as I can have fun and do my job. You just need to, like you said, not be clueless and I'll gladly follow you around if I'm enjoying my time doing so. All the scoreboard check is good for is if you're lost in the moment, dying a lot, and don't know what to do. The guy with the most points or kills is, at least, going to have enough map and objective awareness to guide me around an unfamiliar map. As a Quick-Fix pub Medic, I don't really 'pocket' anyway. At most I have the guy I follow so I don't get lost.

One point that you have missed which is pretty crucial imho is that whenever you and the Medic DO somehow screw up, you should keep it light-hearted. A lot of Medics get easily frustrated, especially after long hours, when all they do is get berated and raged at. So whenever a screw-up does happen, you should keep it light hearted. Tell them that it's ok and try to explain what went wrong. That way they won't get tilted or stop healing you. I have seen it happen multiple times, and I have done exactly that(from the Med side) so... yea.

As a Medic main with decently-good experience with half of the other 8 classes, I can attest to a 6th tip: Don't be afraid to run interference to help your Medic spread the heals. Much of Medic's day involves managing your team's ability to keep their experimental organs internal, so if you see allies in greater need of your buddy's healing, help lead some of the battle's heat away from him and he'll find a way to thank you on the flipside.

Additionally, a subtle, yet helpful strategy to execute when you are the Heavy is to do the following: If you are low on ammo and there's a health pack next to it, try your best not to pick it up unless you absolutely need it -- just take the ammo; this will give your pocket an extra source of health.

Another exception: If you're running Sandvich or Steak (but y steak tho) and are at full health, the kit is a small, and your lunchbox is recharging, take it and give that small kit an upgrade. That right there is what I like to call proper medkit etiquette.

Simple one that made me smile I had 20 hp-ish and was burning so I latched my beam onto a scout for the short speed boost and yelled medic cause ya know I’m gonna die, this scout escorted me over the the medium health kit using his speed which is now one of the my favourite memories

One thing I think is worth mentioning for all classes is keep awareness of situations when the medic suddenly stops healing you. If that happens, check your med. It might have been a spy with a silent kill knife now coming for you, it might be that they're now healing another teammate or maybe someone is trying to kill them without you noticing, either way better safe than sorry.

I have to emphasize the bit about safe pathways. I have tried to heal so, so many fools who are too far away, and wiggling around so I can't crossbow them. I take the chance, dive through an open Sniper sightline while wiggling to avoid getting shot, get to their cover, and they GO BACK THE WAY I JUST CAME, leaving me behind. For crap's sake, I'm not invincible, if my patient is in a Sniper sightline, odds are I'm going to be in it too if I follow.

Pressing E while looking at medic will trigger more voice lines "Like come along now Doctor." or "Doctor this way." I use these to tell the medic to come with me or follow. if you have a mic ask "are you ready" with your mic they will either Nod or say something with there mic. Before jumping around a corner going in to any combat area. Also Press the activate Charge key voice command even if you have a mic it's a good indicator of when to activate Charge and you can hear it 2 ways. Rather than one

As a Medic main, couple things I would add to this. First off, don't assume when a medic is focusing on you that he is pocketing you. Especially when he's the only medic on the team in a pub. Don't freak out if you are above 200 health and your medic suddenly stops healing you. You are the heavy, you can take a few hits, don't start screaming medic if he averts focus for a while, as there are other plays that often need his help. Second, Joey is dead on here on the last point. In particular, when Ubered and the Medic tells you to pull out, by the time the voice chat reaches you, you should assume he's pulling out so you better unrev and get out. Last, be sure to wear the Heavy Lifter. It's the best.

Storytime, one of my early days of playing Medic, I was going around healing people like every Medic does, when this one RED Scout came out of the spawn door and was constantly injuring himself with the Boston Basher and called for me. I healed him anyway because I only had a little over 8 hours of Medic at that point. Then, on a community server that lets you wear any cosmetic you want, another Scout did the same thing. (I was just being friendly on the server and people killed me anyway so I was already pissed off). When I asked why he was constantly injuring himself, he simply said "For Über." This was when my team needed Über to take down a sentry nest. After I died again after using my full Übercharge, I continued playing until I died a few more times. The second little story happened after I had over 24 hours as Medic and 12 points total as him as well. I should also mention that I once got 2nd spot on the leaderboard as Medic (no joke). So, moral of the story, when you see a Medic with a lot of skill and points on the board, let them have the healthkit instead.

Seriously though, as a Medic main I just want someone to care about me on my team. I’m quite effective at keeping my team alive (25000-32000 heals per payload game) I care about every teammate, scouts spies, doesn’t matter who. But when I’m in trouble no one comes to my need, and I’m usually just left to die as the team over extends when I’m at 30 health from the pyros, spies, or scouts that they just let have at me. I can barely even get a sandvich despite all I’m doing for me team. Medic is a thankless job ;-;

I get ya fam, this sadly is the worst part of playing med. When i go med my playstyle is very similar to yours, and just like with you, the team is ungrateful and literally throw me to the trash can. But i found a way to create awareness, just change to other class. And if anyone tries to insult you for doing so or asks you to change back to med, just explain them that you are done with this ungrateful behavior, it really helps a lot.
