Advanced Microscopy at Medicines Discovery Catapult

At Medicines Discovery Catapult, we are developing innovative methods to analyse our complex cell models for drug discovery projects. In our in vitro neuroscience team, we have a range of Central Nervous System cell models along with a suite of analytical methods to look at cell profile and behaviour in response to drug treatments or disease states.
By combining different microscopy modalities that are selected depending on the research question, we are able to improve our understanding of how different drugs and complex medicines bind to and internalise into cells. Furthermore, with a combination of both live cell imaging and high-resolution techniques, we are able to evaluate the drug's mechanism of action and how each therapeutic may affect cell signalling and functional response.. At MDC, advanced microscopy is used to support a wide range of projects and helps our collaborators evaluate their novel medicines.
