What you described is jumping without air control with the FPS camera lowered closer foot of the character?

To remove the ability to control the player in the air, use the "is_on_floor" method of the KinematicBody node. Check whether the player is touching the floor and only update the horizontal movement if they are. You can also disable the air control after doing a dive, by creating a new boolean variable that turns true when pressing the dive action and then turns false when you touch the floor. You can then make it so that the horizontal movement is only updated when that dive boolean is false. If you want to create a more advanced set of conditions or states for the player, like wall jumping, hanging off ledges etc. look into creating a state machine in Godot.
