mercenary dev hires that are all 99% programming and 0% art direction, tech so good but lighting/environment artists slap ray-tracing on everything with low bounce pass count and call it a day. there is still a ton of manual work that needs to be done on the art side to make the art direction look good. its why games from early 2010's still hold up better artistically than your average "RT global illumination" game. There are still good devs in the industry that are actually passionate about their work and there are the devs who just do it as their job. (refer to how MW2019 baked lighting is 10x better than anything made by the new hires at IW for MW2022-3.)
