What type of player are u? Surprise factor or strongest strat?

strongest strat just bc as a newer player there are more build orders for civ specific builds. Although i am adapting the build orders for different openings/civs.

Endurance. I respond to their surprise and try to counter their strongest strat. At my Elo people quit quickly when their first plan doesn't immediately work.

Either strongest strat, or the counter to my opponent's strongest strat (if I think their opening is particularly dangerous vs my best opening). If I'm Huns, I will open scouts unless my opponent is likely to go MaA, in which case I would open archers. If I'm Vietnamese, I will open Archers unless my opponent is likely to go scouts, in which case I will go MaA + Archers. It might not be the best process but it's something for me to stick to :)

I really needed to hear this. It's just pure mind games and sometimes it's good to just logically think out what is likely to happen beforehand so you're ready.. It's all simply a game of rock, paper and holes in your walls to gg.

Definitely going Longswords as Persians with Gambesons for the surprise factor after this. Most unexpected Longswords after Huns

My opening is to lose 2 vills to boar get housed and shoot the next boar with my TC then type GG and go back to queueing. It always catches them off guard 😅

This is why things like spanish archer rush gets lots of success sometimes. I know you mentioned 2 strats, but technically its more of 3. 1.Your civ stregth 2. surprise strat 3. countering eenmy strat.

This is interesting, I thought the opening strategy is part of the game where "surprise factor" has the smallest impact, apart from the drush. If your opponent is going MAA, scouts, archers, skirms, towers etc. you can scout their production building or their eco setup way before they will have enough units to threaten you. To me it's the follow-up where the surprise factor is more of a thing. Though the way to respond to that scouting intel is where I struggle, if I wanna open 19 pop scouts and see my opponent is going MAA, should I switch to archers? Usually I think the answer is yes but my execution sucks in most cases :(

Only switch if it doesnt hurt u that much. If ur too commited to scouts just make them! U dont lose the entire game cuz u have the weaker opening and sometimes u might even win randomly

I think I need to practice doing both - if I see he is going MaA while I'm on the way up, switching to archers with delayed fletching should put me in a pretty good spot. But if I've already started building a stable, I gotta commit, just need to be better at using my scouts while he is harassing my eco with MaA

@@Tobotimus When you see a flag on the barracks, just small wall all of your exposed resources and focus on the scout aggression while being relatively safe at home

Strengths for sure, surprise is good early but can lead to divorce so its not optimal

I have been suggested by few 2k+ players to make opening strategies based on the map. Can you make a video, which strategies should be good for what type of opening? I remember hearing that if berries are forward it's better to go m@a rather than scout. If map is walkable go for scout or drush+FC. If very open map two militia drush or m@a

You should give Cumans a good try. They are extremely flexible. Ram rush in feudal with 6-8 spears and 3-5 M@A, fastest cavalry, great for raiding. Steppe Husbandry tech in CA, 100% train speed for light cav, cav archer, and lancer, for mid-late game. No stone walls though. And dont get me started on the 2nd TC in Feudal. TC drop opponent (havent tried it yet), or just a smooth boom into CA. if the game is going really well for me, sometimes I can click to imp right after hitting CA.

Great tip. Surprised my opponent with archers as Magyars last time, then added a few strong and cheap scouts and later knights. Worked like a charm at ~1000/1100 elo, but I'm wondering how this strat will do in higher rankings

Pls suggest me a video on how to kickstart playing ranked? I have tested my pc but I was lost in how to ban maps, finding match (10 minutes long still no match found), what are the settings, etc. I wanna play multiplayer sobad 😢

I imagine it takes a good amount of muscle memory to be able to think without slowing down, and I imagine most people take their time to think only sparingly throughout their games and at crucial moments? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I look at it completely differently with say Burmese. What is the opening I DON'T want my opponent doing? Archers. If I go MaA then they can go archers and not only am I screwed in feudal, but I'm in a suboptimal position later as they will be on xbows. I'd rather open scouts. If they open archers then I'm doing well in feudal. If they open scouts themselves then it should be even in feudal, but this is good for me later on. If they open MaA I am in a bind though, but opening MaA vs MaA still leaves me vulnerable to archers anyway (since you can't really force a trade of MaA vs MaA so they can still use their MaA to stop me walling and then send archers and I am forced into range units that I really don't want to make realistically ever as Burmese). So MaA is what I'm most scared against, so I guess opening archers would make some sense, but in my mind opening MaA makes the least sense as Burmese.

I always try to play surprise+strongest strat. Go 2 militia drush and prevent walls while you get 4-5 scouts running around base and wall to your tc.
