Great video and will be very helpful for the community. I play mostly team games and some people are just clueless what to do and it's over before it even starts. (i.e. They don't wall, don't make feudal military, and quit as soon as the enemy arrives saying "2v1, stupid teammate gg". Next I would love to see a short video detailing the common Ranked pool maps and basic strategies. It is extremely frustrating to play a map like Migration and your teammates don't make Navy and never move off their island giving you no realistic chance to ever compete. I played a Amazon Tunnel the other day, it all climaxed in one giant Imperial fight and my teammate used the 40 minutes of booming to mass.... Skirmishers...

Second this comment! I had a pocket player ask the team to build a town centre at their base which was odd then they resigned without saying anything to us.

I was archers and my pocket was Aztecs. He went FC, so I struggled to survive 2v1 for a long time, until at min 26 he came with… 3 eagles
@JohnSmith-tk7nt2 жыл бұрын
@@germanpenn Ya a lot of people jump and choose the pocket civs, which I don't mind if they have a plan to help the flank in castle age. But too many players just wanna Goths pocket and boom for 40 minutes until they can flood. And often by the time they get there the flank is dead and the game is lost. It's very frustrating and I've played literally probably a hundred games where you never even see your pocket before you are 2v1 to death in feudal and early castle age

tbf walls can be destroyed by onagers as well so might as well have a free wall

@ramonantoniolli73799 ай бұрын
@@Don_Hector , this isn't a good idea because trees are gone with just 1 onager shot, and the player doesn't receive any alarm sound. Without paying attention, this could turn the tides of the match. With stone walls, it would take some time to destroy them, and the player will be warned as well!

I love playing 2v2s with my brother online and this is a great guide. Even helps when solo queueing, although sometimes you get teammates who just want to do their own thing. The other day I got teamed up with a guy in an Arabia 2v2 who picked Cumans, so I went Britons and asked if he was going scouts in Feudal, he didn't respond. Feudal hits and I'm getting raided by enemy scouts, I push it back and finish walling only to hear like 20 rapid-fire flares from my teammate on his base. I send my archers over and then realize he's attempting to 2 TC boom in Feudal with a huge unwalled backside of his base and is frantically signaling me like I'm supposed to defend him against 2 players' armies alone. Then he just resigns without a gg. Good times.

3v3 has the most strats viable.

That makes me glad to hear as a low ELO player. it's confusing for those that can't play a lot to adjust to 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 on the fly and depending on maps. Looking forward to the other videos
@cah111112 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 2v2 is typically the most restrictive because you can make each person responsible for building the 2 best gold units in the game that fill different strategic niches and perfectly cover each other's counters. 3v3s and 4v4s are a little more wild strategically because you can (and should) still devote 2 people to building archer line and knight line, but the third/fourth person can be your wild card(s) that go for something individually strong, but requires a lot of time or setup like Magyar CA or Aztec monks. Of course, if you're not Hera good, your mileage will vary, and sometimes it's less about building what is strategically best, and more about what you want to build to have fun.

Here are some fun, cheesy 2v2 strategies for some of the non-Arabia-type maps not covered by Hera. Just sharing these because I feel like it. Hideout - Khmer + X. Both fast castle, Khmer player goes for new, improved Ballista Elephants. Send the first to cut a path through the wood to your teammate, the second one to the adjacent opponent. Teammate streams in Knights, Conqs or similar. Have a plan for Monks. Teammate could go Teutons for example. Khmer should be able to get Castle Age at ~14 min (25 vills) and build Castle immediately. Arena - Italians + Cumans. Cuman does fast Feudal 2 TC boom, then Castle Age into Knights. Italian does Fast Imperial with Blacksmith, Market, and Castle. Click up to Feudal at 26 vills. On the way up to Imp, get Bow Saw, Bodkin Arrow, and start building Genoese Crossbows. Have the Cuman sling some food if necessary. In Imp, build two trebs, then either start attacking or defend against a likely Castle Drop. Usually this strategy is played with Turks instead of Italians, but Italian fast Imperial is two vills faster, so it is much easier to defend against Castle drops as Trebs come out much quicker. Also, Genoese are tremendous for defending Trebs against Cavalry charges. This strategy crushes most Castle drops, which are very common on Arena. Oasis or Black Forest - Burgundians + Mongols. Burgundian goes for 5 TC boom (if left undisturbed), +2 additional TCs after clicking up to Imperial. Go up to 200 vills. Mongol does a standard boom and goes for Drill Siege Rams. Mongol sends racing car rams into the enemy wall and Burgundian clicks Flemish Revolution. Then reboom and stream in Coustillier or Paladin. Mongol streams in Mangudai. African Clearing - Japanese + Mayans. Super unorthodox strategy. Mayan builds base more towards the edge of the map, Japanese in the center. As Japanese, don't waste any time finding the right TC spot. Just build as quickly as possible. You can always build an additional drop-off building for 50 wood. Abuse the eco bonus. Build two Mills around all ponds with 4 fish and send one villager to each fish. Click up to Feudal at 22 vills. While going up to Castle, build a few Spears to defend against incoming Scout rushes. In Castle Age, build a Castle that defends gold and wood. Contract your economy mostly around your TC and Castle. Start building Samurai. Mayan goes Fast Castle and Eagles. Start harassing villagers or destroy buildings. Samurai cut through buildings like butter. At around ~12 Samurai and a few eagles, get Arson, then start diving TCs and take them out. The strategy can work against Knights, Archers, even Cav Archers, but will lose to Conqs.

People find 1v1s to be more interesting/dynamic since trade isn't an option and you don't have the "roles", requiring the players to make a mix of army instead of full streamlining one unit

@@tinyman1144 Oh I get it, but the odd 2v2 sprinkled in would be a little variety. Another "role" as it were. I play multi-player with friends mostly, so the odd pro-level idea would be fun.

I find at the stage where you are rebalancing eco/deleting vills, it can be good to tribute your ally if he's missing a crucial up before deleting (eg siege onager or elite). Can be handy to stockpile a bit extra food etc so when you go for the killing blow, you can replace your units easily whilst draining theirs.
@forsakenquery2 жыл бұрын
WHAT A VIDEO. I have questions... 1 ) Do siege and monks have a role in Castle, or just too vulnerable? Are relics worth chasing in general (eg no lithuanians)? 2) What are the other late game comps (if any) that are viable (SO, gunpowder, UU, etc.)? 4) Is the closed land or nomad maps meta drastically different (like cav seem less vital, infantry more viable on arena)? 5) How do you stop aggressive castle drops? Seems difficult to me, as you can't kill 20 vills while also fighting an army. Or is this just a low ELO problem (ie map awareness prevents it)?
