There were some great woodland tips, especially the use of a polarizer in the forest. Thank you.

There is a tripod mount on the 70-200 lens. Using the lens mount reduces the strain on the camera, and makes for a better balanced camera on the tripod.

+Stephen Tyler Hi Stephen, yep you're entirely correct, I'd usually do just that but had lost a quick release plate, and was taking the easy option to save time on the day

Speaking of Tripods, i noticed you can adjust your tripod above your head. I am 6'5" or 195cm and would like a tripod I do not need to strain to look through. What model of Manfrotto are you using? Thanks and Cheers!

Really useful. This has given me some ideas to try. I'm fairly new to photography and have tried taking photos in woodland a few times, but never really got the hang of it. I think I was approaching it as for any other type of landscape photography. You have to think very differently in woodland areas. Will have to try these tips on my next trip out, especially with autumn on its way!

Just ran across this and while a bit old, it provided many useful tips. I appreciate the explanation of the setups. I was wondering which tripod you were using. Based on the clip locks, I'm assuming it is a manfrotto. But which model? I love the height without raising the center column.
