That was an excellent overview. Probably the best composition video I've seen, and inspired me to work through them, deliberately practicing one at a time. I'll no doubt watch this video several times. Thanks very much!

Thank you for the very useful video about composition. The explanation was short, concise, and clear. I am obsessed with photo composition myself, and my favorite is negative space. Even though it consists of just one element, it holds so much meaning. I feel immersed in the photo, and believe that less is more. I look forward to more useful videos in the future.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Metta. Negative space is fun to play with..."less is more"...agreed! 👍

Hey Sean, another great video. I certainly need to work on my compositions more. I Love leading lines, and diagonal lines (as you know) lol. But need to experiment more with symmetry against reflective surfaces. My favorite technique has to be a frame within a frame, as that seems to be the best way to bring intrigue and curiosity. There's so much in this video to play with.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Jock. I love playing with composition. It's such a powerful way to increase the power of your photos. But have fun with it as you practice, that's the most important thing. Find your style and which techniques you like to use.

These are the standard composition stuff. I assume most photographers already know. The practical problem is to apply them when going out to shoot. Often time when I was shooting I always struggle how to hold camera to get that composition.
@SeanGallagherPhotographer2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I would suggest taking each technique one at a time and look for situations in which you can apply them when shooting. Hope you can watch the other videos here on my channel about composition that may offer other insights that may help you.

Not denying the truthfulness of usefulness of the information I have to say this: rules are not (the same as) techniques . To answer I like the rule of thirds because it's so easy to implement just as centering the subject; I also enjoy using negative space to underline certain emotions. PS. I want photographed a boy with scurvy - does it count as using S-curves? 😉
@SeanGallagherPhotographer3 ай бұрын
Treat them as guidelines, rather than rules

@@SeanGallagherPhotographer of course. If they were etched in stone to be adhered to or else, photography wouldn't be art but science. PS. I just noticed: .in my comment the PS joke should say "I once photographed...."
