If you plan on doing just 1 tradeskill then pick your archetype based on that. If you plan on doing several then it doesnt matter so pick based on weapons.

I beg to differ You should pick based on your preferred trade skills as they will start at 50 Where as weapons aren't having such a stat increase. As well as the ability to level and use any weapon you choose

@@garyblubaugh2517This is correct. There is zero advantage of picking a archetype based on weapon. These starter weapons will be replaced in the first hour of gameplay.

My few tips: - In the skills always try to fill to the closest checkpoint to get a bonus, it's sad if you miss just a point to a bonus and you spend it elsewhere, or if you have an extra few points after the checkpoint - Try to get first house on the highest level possible, because you get a 50% off, so the most expensive house will be cheaper

Definitely a good point for the first one. The second one is good as well but I believe they changed the 50% discount (which was at release up to about a year ago) to now be a flat 5k discount. I would still agree to go with the bigger house but you don't get as much of a benefit.

related point: If you have a secondary stat (ex: spear is dex and str) consider putting enough to get to 25 in the 2nd for that bonus

Pro tip gather and craft! Hit 60 on original launch this way. And it was a lot harder back then.

It is amazing how much experience you can get from refining and crafting. Gathering, in my opinion isn't as efficient since it's so tedious but buying supplies at the trading post and crafting things is great.

How to get the songs? Like the xp boost? Does it just unlock at 25? And it lasts 1hr?

You unlock songs by finding sheet music. You start out with two songs I believe. Different buffs are unlocked at different levels and the group xp buff is unlocked at 25. I believe the difficulty of the song and how well you play it can make it last up to 90 minutes.

Thanks for the comment! I'm afraid I must disagree with most of your tips lol If you're a tank you need carnelian gems. It is a must if you're going to maintain aggro on enemies during expeditions and group PvE. This starts at the Depths expedition. If your tank doesn't have a carnelian gem in that expedition, Thorpe will murder your DPS players. Also, taking potions or attribute food that boosts your stats is a great way to do content that might be above your level or make on level content easier. Not a need, agreed but highly encouraged. Crafting is different and not related to tools. You can actually craft without the need of any tools but if you're gathering, yes endgame tools are better but you should just do it along your journey instead of waiting till the endgame. You won't be able to have 300 attribute points until very far in the game. It would be a waste to pass up resources along your journey just because you aren't at 300 attribute points or to pass up harvesting a tree because you focused on mining. You can do both. But if you are a higher level and you want to harvest one specific resource, spend the money to put attribute points to 300 in that trade skill. The Depths expedition is very tough and is one piece of content that will provide a roadblock for many people. Especially anyone playing as a tank primary. I wouldn't say dungeons are easy up to mutations. Maybe for you but I struggled on Depths and Dynasty as a tank. Mounts unlock at 25, your first house is free if you buy the 5k house because you get a 5k discount on your first home, and your primary house should probaly be in those regions but I would recommend buying three homes and spreading them out across the map for easy/free recall locations. I would recommend against buying the cheap house for your first house. Buy your first house in a big hub and buy the big house. Buy smaller houses in other regions primarily as a source for recalling.

Gems have tiers for a reason. You should be slotting gems as you progress through the game. I advise people to slot gems as they play because it increases damage for weapons, provides aggro for tanks, and provides damage/elemental mitigation on armor. It's too good and too easy to slot to not pay attention to it as you play. Just like food buffs. It's cheap and easy to use and makes your play experience more enjoyable. Also, I would recommend people craft and gather as they go. It's more enjoyable instead of trying to cram crafting or gathering in at the end when it's "optimized." Not everyone will want to craft stuff but if they find it enjoyable, they should start early. Running through the game to max level is not what most people will do either, unless they have played a lot of the game and are trying to crush the economy of a fresh start server. Dungeons are much easier than on release but I still think a few of them are difficult for the mechanics and new players will struggle. My mind usually goes to The Depths and Thorpe. It is nice to hear they are decreasing mount level, if that sticks. I'll add a note after release if it stays that way. For now, it's 25.

​@BraidedZero Disagree with the first tip. We've been running all dungeons as a 3man with no tank just dps and healers. At the recommended level for each. We even did Depths almost 10 levels lower than recommended. Qhick runs, pulling lots of mobs into piles and dpsing them down. They made the dungeons too easy. Having a tank doesn't matter as much as long as you dodge, block and do mechanics. I really wish dungeons were harder... did a 3 man Genesis last night as well.. I know mutations are harder... but dungeons should be more challenging. And I am not a veteran player. Picked the game up a few weeks ago to try out all the dungeons and I just find them not challenging. Just reach 58 yesterday and have already finished most the level 60 dungeons as a 3 man... yes, the 60 ones we needed a tank and healer, but only had 3 people lol. Too easy. The black powder one was SUPER fun though. Most fun I've had in a dungeon in a long time. Granted I did play for a few weeks, on original launch 3 years ago, but only got to level 47, got bored and quit. So I knew a LITTLE bit already, but not much. You can keep aggro with just smolder on FS lol. The dungeons were a joke honestly.

Personally my tip is don't craft higher then base tier. Save you obsidians for when you want to craft your chosen professions, and choose what you want to learn first based on you're weapons and armor of choice. See ya'll in the game.

Does this game require a lot of farming/grinding? I mainly just want to play the game for the Story Mode / and defeat the last Boss . Can I win just by doing the main quests???

You can ignore the trade skills for the most part if you're just looking to complete the main story. It will still require a little bit of grinding but you can do less of that by buying what you need from the trading post.

They removed the need for keys from expeditions. But if you're going to keep up with damage and surviving, you will need to buy gear from the trading post. As well as potions, food, and other supplies you may need.

@@biglow7027 Like he mentioned you can buy some gear from trading post for any gaps you might have, through questing you'll have more than enough money to buy anything you need, and you'll be able to do the whole story just fine, you'll also most likely hit max level even before finishing all of the main story parts

Hard disagree on the PvP flag. Draco at least is full of maxed people killing any lower level people on sight. Even the lower level griefers plague some of the busiest spots and when you go and stop them they just cry. Good luck trying to do the fishing questline or whatever the silver mine place is called, its an absolute cesspool.

The toxic players will go away. It happened at initial release as well. The bullies have fun at first and then they stop having fun and go back to their other games. Give it a few more days and it will be better. But just unflag yourself and move on. Thanks for the comment!
