Best tutorials ever, I am just learning the game and in love with your work, clear, concise and well explained. Kudos sir, I would gladly buy you a beer or two or even a six pack.

While I know all this information, I have not play in a few years and these have been great refresher videos for preparing to play again in the near future! Much thanks on some great work!

These are the best ASL tutorials. I reference these after long spans of time between games. Also my friends that are newer players are looking forward to seeing your AVFs and Guns as important video. Working them up to that now through the starter kits.

Glad to see a new tutorial. Really looking forward to the defensive fire principals lesson. Many things to consider in this area.

Most excellent tutorials, best I've seen yet. I'm glad you're still doing them, I wondered if you decided to quit making them after the first few. I also think longer video run-times are quite applicable, considering subject matter. 👍

The two LMGs that fired in the first attack made Rate of Fire (Colored dr of 1). By marking them with PF and moving on to the single 4-4-7 they are forfeiting any further attacks, the same applies to the MMG fired earlier. The decision must be made immediately after the initial Prep Fire after resolving the attack. Just thought I'd mention this. Good video training that I wish was available when I was learning ASL many years ago.

Looking forward to your Defensive Fire video. I'm also very confused by routing rules, so I hope you'll spend more time on that. Thanks for the videos!

I skimmed the ASLSK1 rulebook I just got and defensive fire does indeed sound intimidating. The increase in detail wrt the finer resolution of effects such as pinned, casualty reduction etc. reminds me of Homer Simpson when he discovered a new meal between breakfast and brunch. Pretty soon ASL 2 will find a new effect between pinned and no effect.

Excellent vid as usual. Perhaps finer tipped/coloured felt pens would make the writing a shade clearer. Just an idea.
@amphora83213 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I thought you'd have tried all that prior to my comment, coz you seem pretty organized. I guess as a last resort you could use A4 paper. One sheet would equal four writing areas, so not to bad. The current method is fairly legible

Fire mechanics - check! That is weird about the fuzziness on the right side! I have always used unclipped counters and I am proud of them - I just can't bring myself to spend endless hours trimming corners of cardboard - shouldn't we all have better things to do with our time? :) Thanks!

It's an old badge (ID) lanyard from work. It's a little thick, but convenient. You can buy them many places (Amazon, etc), just search for "retractable lanyard"

Please use the IIFT - it hurts me to make firing decisions to 'cheat' on the IFT - totally wrecks any immersion when this happens

Nice video, tutorials are always useful. I have a question, in the K/# example you said the squad that was reduced to a 1/2 squad, when taking the MC#, suffers no #MC break results? Never heard that before, because to me the rulebook has no exclusions for K/# units for MC failures. Am I understanding you correctly? I never played it that way and seems odd to me. If I mis-understood you, I apologize, as I appreciate your efforts and videos... Thanks Paul

Neil stated the "just reduced Unit" also has to take the MC the arrow going back to CR 41:20

What would have happened if the Major failed at 24:47 ? Im confused by the Leader Loss Task Check. If a leader Fails, then the squad tests and they pass, are you saying the squad then has to go back and make a pin test? or do they just skip right to a pin test if the leader breaks? How can you be both pinned and DM'd ?
@ASLAcademy7 ай бұрын
Yes, if the 10-3 failed the initial 2MC, the other two squads would have to pass that 2MC first (with no leadership DRM since the leader broke). If I used the same die rolls in the video they both would have failed an been broken. Since broken units can't be pinned there would be no need to do a LLTC after that. The only time a broken unit can be pinned is during Interdiction, if memory serves me right. If one (or both) of those squads passed their 2MC then you'd do a LLTC for them.

Can you explain the “random “ resolution? Is there a procedure to use?
@ASLAcademy Жыл бұрын
You can use any method to pick random units, just remember that ties can happen so it's possible for more than one unit to be selected. The common practice is to roll a d6 for each unit affected. Highest roll(s) is selected.

Great tutorial. Explained very well. Very helpful. 9 out of 10, BUT, not 10 ot of 10. Why not? IMHO you should have stopped at 46:00. Because a) you actually said you were finished. Then b) went on with a preview, eventhough you mentioned the general theme of the next tutorial before. You then c) start going into detail about Defensive Fire. Then d) give a hasted example where one can hardly see what you are doing (hand over the hexes and counter). You e) kind of end with a negative note how complicated the next tutorial will be etc. My experience with 45 years of teaching is, that once you call it a day, "class" says goodbye in their minds, start packing, most won't recall what you were talking about in the end. Miny you, it's the "curse" of a good teacher IMHO, when you know your stuff and are good at your task/job. One goes into overdrive. Happened to myself often enough. 😉

Yes, but the luxury of KZbin is you can stop watching the video if you think someone is going on too long. If I stood up and walked out part way through one of my college engineering courses the professor might have notice. I take your points tho, I sometimes prattle on too long. 😂😂
