Man, you nailed it again. I got a headache recently trying to model one of those complex oni masks. Not only does the facial side of the mask has to look organic and nice with all its complex details, but it has to have the right curvature and even thickness as well. Not even to mention that the inside has to have somewhat of the negative shape of the face it attaches to.

I see Diamond polygons, they’re everywhere, how often do you see them, all the time 💎
@YMRGUITAR5 ай бұрын
This is some insane stuff dude. I tried getting into 3D years ago and struggled with modelling, getting back into it now for games dev. The detail required in this model is incredible and the way you keep on top of the topology throughout the process rather than just cleaning up at the end is so interesting. Please turn on the screencast keys, there are so many awesome things you’re doing here that I don’t want to miss.

Amazing work! I'm a beginner so it would be nice to get your oppinion. Sometimes it feels wrong to add 20+ vertecis in a edge cut just to fix one or two triangles. Is it correct approatch? Should there be a balacne between triangles/ngons and vertex count or perfect all quad topology is always worth extra vertecies?
@ThomasColin3D7 ай бұрын
Well it depends. You don't have to get quads everywhere is this is what you mean. Triangles and ngons are fine on flat surfaces, and if they don't make any shading issues, it's ok. I would usually avoid using them, but if you really want to get rid of them, you can add apply one level of subdivision and they will be turned into quads. You can also add extra edge loops, the poly count doesn't really matter if your modeling a high poly mesh.
