This is really a creative way to chop vocals dude! This is what I like with Ableton. You can quite quickly build that kind of stuff based on your own "logic", pov. It become your own sound :)

Great video! Question: I get frustrated sometimes when working with Tuner because it always looks like it's jumping around all over the place and I end up spending a long time trying to fine tune. Like at 4:17 -- how do you decide so quickly that it's a perfect C when it looks like it's bouncing all around the Tuner?
@KermodeMusic5 жыл бұрын
Great question. If it's bouncing like crazy that means that part of the sound is either continuously raising or lowering in pitch. However if it flutters left and right that means it's got vibrato. Aim to have the majority of it in the green for the majority of it's time and you're good. Though no sound is perfectly pitched (unless synthetic) so a bit of waver is okay

There's an easier way to do the same thing, load 127 vocal samples into the sampler "zone" go to the selector tab and "distribute ranges equally", then map the selector tool to a macro. Add an LFO to the macro for added random amazingness!
@KermodeMusic5 жыл бұрын
I just don't like the zones within sampler because you can effect each chain separately. I like being able to process each one. Something I should have said in the tut

great video you showed me how to use abelton in a different and creative way, thank you for this. Just one question: how do you create a sample selector knob like the one you made in a cymatic cosmo rack at the end of your video. Big thank you

Really cool! Hey I noticed you also have "Synth 128" instrument in your library there. Is that also a big sampler full of synth 1 shots? Could you do a video on those as well Ker? Thanks buddy!
@KermodeMusic5 жыл бұрын
I do it with synth one shots, bass one shots, pads etc... All 100% the same technique :)!

Nice job.👍 I like some of what you're doing here, but I tend to shy away from randomness (though it can have it's advantages for surprise discoveries). Anyways, to keep this post short, for tuning I usually use Simpler which has transpose. Are you aware of any difference as far as using the Root Note setting that Sampler has vs. Transpose which Simpler has? To clarify, what does Root Note offer vs Transpose?
@KermodeMusic4 жыл бұрын
The end result is the same :)

@@KermodeMusic Do you find yourself using any Sampler specific features that Simpler doesn't have for vocal chops?
@KermodeMusic4 жыл бұрын
I like that sampler has FM synthesis, filter and distortion, as well as the ability to change the start point of the sample with automation. I prefer it for almost everything
