It's demonstrating that the pump is only giving enough flow and pressure to do the job. The engine is at low idle. There is enough power to lift that load. He's not wasting fuel by running at high idle, pushing excess oil over the relief valve.

+Adrian Wright I suppose they're targeting the Deere 310SK. Volvo , Case, etc. all use basically the same hydraulic technology as this Cat. Rexroth axial piston pump, Rexroth or Husco load sense DCVs with priority valves (PPPC as Cat calls it). Deere stuck with a gear pump on the 310, but larger Deere's use the same Rexroth axial pump as Cat.
