I love my 23 480rr. Awesome bike. First 50 or so hours it just gets better and better. Mines just done 80 and I've done the steel oil pump gears. Very happy with it. Some guys in the US have run up 500+hours on these with little more than routine maintenance. What's not to love. I just made my gearing taller (15/50), and it's still surprisingly good in the tight stuff. You won't be disappointed.

Another Aussie here. I sold my DRZ400E with 20,000km and purchased a Gas Gas 700 ES and Beta 480RR. The beta is a great light off road bike It does need some extra upgrades, such as thermostate delete. (They all leak coolant from there), replace the 2 x plastic oil pump gears to steel gears, a radiater fan helps with single trail riding and the usual crash protection skid plate. Over all, it's a great bike without having to uncork it like the KTM500. The seperate engine and gear box oil helps with oil change frequency and engine life. Keep the DRZ for dual sport, it's a better tool for that.

@@EricBanner571 thanks mate. I have looked into a few of those things you mentioned. The seperate reservoir of the gear box and engine was a big reason I jumped on the beta. It won’t be replacing the DRZ as the full adventure mount though. 🤙🏼

Need a couple of those Kriega front and rear haul loops on the bike. Something to grab hold of to help get out of the tight spots.

you need to load a +200 rpms idling map ! no more stall, no back fire, nothing, just joy. it can eve log on the idling without touching the throttle ;) night and day, and robust start in cold or hot weather... win win .If you like more enduro, do clincs and teaching with real off road teacher, don't follow the " I learn from buddy who learnt form his uncle" ;) ; too any guys ride with bad habits...

Looks like it’s time to get some hand guards - both to protect your hands, and to protect the levers and grips. Otherwise welcome to enduro - looks like a well run event.

In enduro you need to slip the clutch to modulate the power of the bike a lot. This is not dual sport riding. Otherwise the big thumper will pull on your arms constantly especially on technical hills. Nice bike bud 👍

@@_JoshJB_ It was just seeing a new bike, O so new, getting scratched up. 🥲😢 I did "like" it, as I always do. And yes, I am subscribed. A bit like after I did a full rebuild & respray on my 72 Kombi work truck back in the 80/90s, getting the first large chip in the paint from a seat belt getting jammed when shutting the door. Almost made me cry. And eventually I took that thing on hill climbs just to see if I could it, risking catastrophic damage. I was young, and wish I still had the beast it was, keeping most of the weight over the drive wheels it would go anywhere. I meant no critique.

Josh would you buy beta 390 instead of upcoming 2025 dr-z4S as a dual sporr / light ADV?
@_JoshJB_2 ай бұрын
@@andrew390 hard to say when I haven’t ridden either of them mate. But if the new DRZ is like the current ones it’s a different bike. It’s long service intervals put it in front of any of the other lightweight options out there in my opinion. But obviously a 390 would great off-road.

Way too big a bike to learn propper offroad skills on. Trade it back for a 350 or any of the 2t bikes. At the very least gear it lower for more fun. E start saves the day though, wish my 04' xr 400 had it many a times.

@@markmtbrider thanks mate. I know it’s overkill for this type of riding. It’s not the main purpose of why I got the 480 so there’s a method to my madness 🤣. I just couldn’t help myself to get out for its first ride at this local event.
