yes do a video on motocycle rack for the back of the van

Harley04 I think as long as you aren’t to wide, long or for bigger vehicles to heavy I think you are good, not sure though
@Harley046 жыл бұрын
Yes, by too wide, too long or too heavy, I guess you mean by the written legislation for the relevant state? Hopefully he will address this in the future video, sure I not the only one interested, thanks.
@permaculture36 жыл бұрын
Length of over-hang is state by state in the U.S. The critical part is that the vehicle license plate is not obscured. I welded a square tube on mine and mounted the license plate on a trailer hitch plug to be legal (after the ticket). I have seen small rollers added to the ends of a similar rack to minimize damage due to the departure angle or for backing up steeper driveways. It looks great to me!

That makes sense, but even attaching a towbar takes a lot of engineering to be practical and safe; I shall await the video, thanks for answers guys!

I gotta say, I've seen about all of your videos since you bought this van and I am super impressed by what you have been able to do with it. I hadn't heard of an "adventure van" before and I wasn't sure what to expect, but turning a stock transit van into basically an RV entirely by yourself (minus the 4wd) with such professional looks and factory level safety is really something to be proud of @wranglerstar. Your family will appreciate it for years to come

What a wonderful van you have created. Quality thru out, no junk and excellent workmanship. One suggestion- Radius/break the sharp corners on the galley counter top and on the neat adjustable table top behind the driver. Those corners can really hurt you, especially little ones, if you fall against them.

Awesome video, Cody. One thing I admire about you; The fact that you jump into projects. You might not know everything but you'll figure it out as you go! I feel a lot of people don't jump into projects because they don't feel they know enough or something unknown keeps them away.

Hi Cody, just a tip for the sink and table, put some flooring varnish on it. Use the durable one, it makes the top durable and water resistant. You don't have to dry immediately, can be wet for one hour without getting those ugly spots, or with a wet cup getting circles. In the beginning the finnish is not as nice with oil, but after a years use it still looks the same. Something you will appreciate in wet weather conditions.

Great project! The van is looking ace. Whatever alarm you end up going with, make sure you get one that has the remote start and battery maintenance features. That way the van will start itself up if the charge gets low. Good luck!

love the max fan. I want one for my enclosed trailer that I camp in. just a heads up warning. I built a bike carrier much like that. make sure you zip tie the hooks on the tie downs to the eye bolts. one day you will come to a stop . the bike will lean forward just enough to slack the front tie downs and unhook them. then it will fall off the back onto the street where you will be blocking traffic to get them off and back on again. and thats if it doesnt hit on the throttle body and bust that. lesson learned a long time ago. keep up the great videos. you have given me a lot of ideas for my trailer which my wife deemed "A pack and play"

You "kitchen" looks gorgeous! I like green, but that looked pretty bad, before. Now it fits perfectly. Maybe "Better Homes and Vans" should do a feature on you. I would suggest a mineral oil finish. Beautiful, water-resistant, and food-safe.

Chair options: Helinox or REI both make a high quality lightweight camp chair. They stow quite small. I have both the Helinox one and the REI macro. I prefer the macro for 2 reasons, mesh in the seating area and the taller height. Segmented aluminum tube (just like tent poles) construction with a heavy duty nylon and mesh seat.

Wow, that turned out amazing. Two things to improve with the table if it was my van; First, the horizontal rotatable "arm" turn it up-side down, to be able to mount the pole to the table when not mounted. My second thought is that you buy another "pole", and screw it to the kitchen. Then you could just slide the tabel in, if you leave the first pole in its current position, and you don't need use another mounting system. OR you could just cut three to four inches of your existing pole, and mount this small piece to the kitchen. Of course, you need to drill a new hole in the existing pole, and maybe rise the mount on the wall. I hope you got my idea. Regards from Sweden :)

The adventure van is looking great Cody. I don’t understand how people can say you were expecting to much, have they not seen the tv show “Tiny house big living”? As long as you build everything with dual purpose it’ll be extremely possible! That bike carrier looks amazing! I for one would love to see how you made it, or at least more about it. Is it possible that once the water tank is installed you would be able to hook it up to a water source so that while you’re camping you’re not using your reserves, but instead you’re using the water from the camp connection? Kinda like they do on motor homes. If you’re camping somewhere that has that has water/electricity at the individual camp sites that is. God bless you and your family, I hope to get the chance to meet you some day.

The sink stuff is actually a real challenge in production. I worked for a company that produces those and a) there is not a lot of use cases for smaller sinks even and b) there is technical limit for this sort of production. I think, it's called deep-drawing.

Hi Cody,i just an idea for stowing away that table top on the side of the kitchen cabinet,you could use the same full extension drawer rails and mount them to side of the cabinet and connecting them to the table top basically having the table top sliding in and out vertically.the reason why i thought of that is because the sliding rails should have a clip at the back of each one allowing you to slide the counter top out and unclip it for use,then clip it back in and slide it inward for storage,let me know what you think

Amazing job with the van, finding issues and solving them and taking us all along for the ride. Have you thought about adding an external water pump to pull water from a lake or pond if your ever in a situation where going to get potable water is out of the question? Just for showers and cooking if you boiled the water well.
