We did a similar route last year, starting at the Red Bridge trail head. It was our first backpacking try. We decided to give this sport a try at 59 years old. My wife was also recovering from a bug so we just spent the night. We had a good time and plan on going back to the MRT and more.

It's always a good decision to leave when your not feeling well. I once went into the woods after a few days of not feeling well (and thought I was better), woke up the next morning in excruciating pain. turned out to be a double ear infection. We hiked out best we could. I've been sick out in the woods a few times. Not fun. Hope you folks at least still got to enjoy it though!
