You guys are so wholesome and sweet and awesome! This dropped unexpectedly for me tonight. Couldn't sleep and caught most of this episode. Tried to plan a good hard hiking and camping trip with my ex which never happened and the idea for it has been out of my mind for quite some time. After seeing this episode I'm now going to start listing supplies and planning something for me alone to just go do in the spring. I can't wait! Cheers dudes 👍

You guys are the first patron channel (the only, for now) I support. I keep asking why I've enjoyed watching your show, besides the quality of the production. I just found the answer. It's the friendship + the nature. BTW, I found your channel when searching "hiking with a dog".

You hit the nail on the head there. Came for the hiking, watched a few videos for the high production values, and then stayed for the friendship. Well that's an oversimplification but yeah just kinda feels like a JRPG where friends assemble and leave on an adventure to save the world, just with more hiking and less monsters! haha

These videos always make me happy when I’m feeling stuck in one spot and wishing I could just get away for a bit but one thing I’ve noticed that’s had me sitting with a consistent smile on my face this whole video is the genuine friendship you all clearly have. Really wholesome and inspiring stuff.

"In wildness is the preservation of the world" Henry David Thoreau. Such a fitting quote to begin this amazing journey that the four of you have embarked on. The visit to Walden Pond really brought things full circle as we all know the influence Thoreau had on Adventure Archives. It was special to hear each of you speak about how Thoreau shaped your thoughts and perceptions. It was also a great touch to hear Autumn Stroll as you strolled into Walden Pond. The camaraderie, the food and the beautiful vistas really made this a special episode. The shout outs were top notch once again! If anyone is going to be a speed walker, it's Robby! 😁 With the number of times Bryan was shown snoozing it brought back memories of Wayne National Forest and Bryan's code name, Sleeper 😴 Can't wait for part 2 of this road trip! Well done guys! 👏👏👏👏👍

At Acadia I was reminded to tell you about my favorite Red River Gorge experience. My sons and I were brought up in Northern Kentucky and we were frequent visitors to the Gorge. However, my oldest son and his wife left early in their marriage and moved to Tucson. One fine Spring day my brother, my younger son and his wife, and myself were hiking in the Gorge and lost the trail. We were lost! No cell service, and our maps no help. My younger son told all of us to stay put together and he was going to see if he could get a cell signal. We waited patiently and a half hour later my son appeared and said, OK follow me and I know how to get back! He did it. We all sighed as we found ourselves on familiar territory. As we hiked back I asked him how he knew the way out? “Easy, Mom,” he said, “I climbed higher on the ridge and called my brother in Tucson. I knew he has been on every trail in this area multiple times, so we had a pretty good shot!” 😎

There’s lots of canoeing around Columbus. We often do Alum Creek from the dam down to the bottom of Westerville. As well as The Big Darby, Hoover, Scioto River, Kokosing, and The Big Walnut. Of course more if you venture further. But, my point is give canoeing a look. You can adventure locally for a bit then start traveling. Just like backpacking. 3 days on the Greenbrier River in WV and 3 days on The Pine River in MI (plus a bonus hike at Nordhouse Dunes for another overnighted) were our big two for 2021 and I highly recommend. Keep the adventures and videos coming fellas!!

I grew up close to Concord. In high school we read Thoreau, Hawthorne and Alcott. So what did we do? Of course a day long field trip to Alcott and Hawthorne houses, over to Waldon Pond where we had a picnic lunch on the beach (our teacher read from his book of poetry while we sat looking out over the water). Later we went to the Old North Bridge and toured the battleground. Then back to school. It was really cool to experience literature class in real life.

Walden Pond today vs The Bowl. The Bowl has it's original ecology and true tranquility. You may have it all to yourself. Walden Pond is a couple miles down rt.2 from the Fresh Pond rotary, one of America's most frustrating games of chicken. Walden pond has acres of parking which are often full. Walden, the book, is the bible I grew up with, that and Origin Of Species. I appreciate the horticulturalist with plant names on this...
