If your filter is a micro membrane filter (like a Sawyer but others are similar) and it freezes, it is no longer safe to use it because it isn’t preventing bacteria from passing through. If the temps are going below zero, it’s best to keep your filter inside your coat to keep it from freezing.

Thanks for the heads up! And for anyone else who might have been in the same situation, turns out you can test the integrity of the filter using this method: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3-nZGZ_jcuMsKc

That is right. There are water molecules that stay within the fibers that when it freezes it expands break the microfibers. Some people keep them within themselves so that their body warms it up prevents it from freezing

Baking bread on a stick is a campfire classic in Denmark. The secret is making it very thin on the stick, bake it over embers and looooooots of patience. We usually just make a standard, plain wheat, dough for rolls and eat with ketchup and maybe a hotdog, but now I wanna experiment.

I subscribed to your KZbin channel just this weekend and i love your content a lot. I have 2 children ( sons) . I would love to see them explore the outdoor. Your videos inspire me to encourage my children to do things with nature. I have 14 years old and i let him watch your videos. He likes Nature too. We are from Jersey City, NJ. We sometimes go to upstate NY to see nature. Last March we went to LA to visit Yosemite but unfortunately it was closed 😊and i think its still close until now because of blizzard. We will try again in 2 years but definitely do it in the summer. Anyways, you are an inspiration to me. Thanks for your content. I hope some day my kids will find a group of friends like you who would explore nature to get high than to do drugs. ❤ More power and please keep inspiring people, especially thevyoung ones.

Good job managing a tough fire Andrew and guys. I kept thinking to myself that there should be larger wood pieces tucked against the fire to dry out. Then there they were. Shred up some birch bark next time. It's tough to do when wet, like anything else, but it does still burn well for tinder even if it's wet. Birch wood chunks too.

I found your videos a few weeks ago, when I was looking for a video of hiking in National Parks. My Granddaughter was hiking/camping at that time in a series of the National Parks. I completely love your videos. Not just watching your hiking adventures, but your respect of Nature, respect of each other, your knowledge of nature/plants/trees/flowers.... Also, the soothing music being played in the background. I have always loved Nature and hiking. Just never have gone on hikes as long as yours! But, I swear, if I weren't almost 72 years old, I would be out there hiking long hikes like you! :) Thank you for letting me live vicariously at this time in my life, which accompany me with my own wonderful Nature memories. ( I still do go on hikes, but again, shorter ones now!) Oh, and I also like your discussions of food you are cooking too !! :) PS. OMG---and that Video where you were doing an enactment of similar things in Star Treck???!!! HAHAHA!! I thought your program was finished for the evening and I was walking around here, when I heard some odd conversation coming from my TV. I THOUGHT the show had segued into a new KZbin show. Nope. It was you guys --and TOTALLY cracked me up!! HAHAHA )
