Finally someone posted about Togean Islands. I was there in 2019, solo traveling. One of the best experienced in my life. Culture wise, untouched scenery and the corals and wildlife just feels like another world. Im still daydreaming about this experience.

Wow...I admire your courage and determination. The pictures are nice and informative. You are a good storyteller. You can even tell in so much detail. Togean is not a place for ordinary tourists, but for adventurers who are looking for a new world to tell about. There are still many places in Sulawesi that have unique stories for you tell to us. So glad to have found your content. I was just watching Kristian Hansen, a vloger who is also an amazing storyteller. Thank you for the beautiful video about Una-Una, it's very hard to find videos about this island. Una-Una (kololio) is my hometown. My mother moved to Jakarta and some of our family moved to Gorontalo and Wakai due to the tsunami and eruption of Mount Colo which caused the island to sink. In 2022, my partner and I went there, it's a beautiful island far from noise, with clear seawater and white sand; everything is well-preserved in my memory. I will return someday, as soon as possible, with my family. I'm sure my mother misses her hometown so much 🥹

How does this compare to Raja Ampat for the snorkelling/diving? Went there close to a decade ago and I see a ton of videos on the area now - I hope the reefs are still pristine! What do you consider the next undiscovered Raja Ampat?
@IndoWild Жыл бұрын
Honestly. Raja Ampat is on a another league. They cannot be compared. Togean islands are bombed (dynamite fished) and over fished. There are very little fish, no big fish and no big schools. Una Una is better but still no comparison to raja Ampat. As for what is the next raja Ampat? Unfortunately I don’t think there is, yet. There are many reef systems and islands in Indonesia but most of them are bombed. I think I’m 20-30 years from now some of these will recover. Perhaps Takabonerate in South Sulawesi would be the next, if it recovers. But my favourite diving outside of raja ampat are the islands in the Banda sea.
@quokkaYT Жыл бұрын
@@IndoWild Ahh thanks for the reply! Such a shame to hear about the damaged reefs. I remember coming to Manado/Bunaken Island to dive one year only to come back the following year to see a wasteland of bleached stony coral rubble. Crazy to see such change in such a short time.
