Just installed this and I have one pointer....when reinstalling that cigarette lighter plug, use your phone to see what you’re actually trying to plug in. I spent like 10-15 minutes cursing lol. After I used my phone, it took 15 seconds.

It looks like now the flush mount USB comes pre-installed, and they supply posi taps instead of t-taps but pretty much all of the other parts look the same. The only thing I could add to this install is properly looming and securing the wiring behind the dash. That will prevent a possible electrical fire in the dash down the road. Just sayin, YMMV. But I have witnessed rigs burned to a smoldering heap of scrap from not taking precautions when wiring.

does it make that trim piece a lot more difficult to remove now?
@AdventureBuilt4 жыл бұрын
Yes due to having to remove the 3TPAM before you remove the trim piece. However I never or hardly ever remove that so it hasn’t been an issue.
@ShredGarage4 жыл бұрын
I wish the USB ports were in the back so you can hide and route the cables better. With the iPad you can hide wires but with smaller devices you will just have a lot of wires hanging there.
@AdventureBuilt4 жыл бұрын
I actually like the ports on the front. I use short cables and the wiring isn’t bad. The next big thing will be Wireless Charging for the entire bracket. That would be cool. For now though it is perfectly manageable.
@ShredGarage4 жыл бұрын
Adventure Built I was thinking if it was in the back under the cable management hiding piece you can put whatever wires needed there and then little cable pass thru. But wireless charging would be cool! I want this rack tho, seems nice

If you purchase an aftermarket radio, will it interfere with the mounting brackets?
@AdventureBuilt3 жыл бұрын
I think it will completely depend on how the stereo mounts. Most stereos use adapters to fit into the stock location but they are all different.

Great video. What is the point of that one, self tapping screw installed near the end? The instructions do not explain its purpose.
@AdventureBuilt4 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. I’m pretty sure it limits the flex in the bracket on the left side if you were to add a bunch of weight. Whatever the reason it works. I did a 3 day trip on the AZ Backcountry Discovery Route and had the 3TPAM loaded down. Including my 10.2” IPAD. No problems at all. Hope this helps.

If you need to access behind the radio or any of the controls, what's the best way to take the dash off without removing everything you just installed?
@wheel17754 жыл бұрын
Edward Donlin The bezel pops off pretty easily. The radio comes out with a few bolts. It’s pretty easy and that’s the only reasonable way to get behind the dash.
