Because of this video I was able to confidently float fish with no prior knowledge other than this video and on my first trip out land a chromer running the bulk shot pattern with a 10m bead. Truly an awesome video for any skill level fisherman. Thanks Kyle. Hoping to be able to book a trip with you this spring!

Been looking for a video that shows you how to do a proper setup for steelhead. Finally, you did it. Thanks so much for sharing how to bring me and others into the sport. I've subscribed because of how informative your videos are, plus who can beat the hoot and hollar you do when you land a fish, it's infectious! Thanks a bunch, total fan.

Thank you for taking the time to explain every step. It's very helpful!! So I have been trying to float fish skine for kings for 2 years. I got my first skine bite 10-4-22 . It was so exciting to set the hook with a bobber down unfortunately it was a 8 lb catfish wich still gave ma a great fight on my 13 foot clarus . I will book a trip with you to hope gain some knowledge. Today was a spinner bite for me on a 9' fenwick with landing a 17 lb king on a broken rod. FUN!!! Just another thank you to you and Maggs for everything you do to make this best youtube channel iv found. Tight lines & God bless.

I just came across your videos over the last month, always been a musky/ pike/ bass guy and left the salmon steelhead game on the backburner due to a lack of friends whom partake, but your very deeply detailed videos have grown me the confidence to invest in a float rod setup and start practicing technique on local river. from one Kyle to another thanks so much for the time you've put into helping people like me explore a new area of fishing!

Uni and Palomar knots are just as easy to tie and way stronger than clinch knots. I live in BC where freezing isn't a big problem and where most of the time the water is big and has some colour. I use 30 lb braid and a quality 12 lb mono leader. German-made mono like Triple Fish or Maxima...no fluorocarbon, it's way too brittle. I might only get one or two chances on any given day so breaking off is not something I want to happen. It blows me away how good the back east Steelhead fisheries are, if I lived there I'd be all over it. :)
@seanyboy1011000
@seanyboy1011000 2 жыл бұрын
i agree on the knots ,long rods ,light drag is very forgiving. I use Pline 12# ss fluoro, Steelhead/Salmon, very confident, tough line ,I may try the mono you mentioned, the no stretch braid ripped some strong hook sets.
@allancrow134
@allancrow134 2 жыл бұрын
@@seanyboy1011000 Hey Steve, Triple Fsh is the choice of commercial salmon fishermen around here, it's made in the same German factory as Maxima. Comes in a green and my favourite, a smoke grey. It's really abrasion-resistant, has killer knot strength, great stretch and very little memory. It's your shock absorber if you are using braid, I won't touch flouro. I use it on all my rods for downrigger fishing and have for years. Use it for Halibut leaders as well. Every one of my friends has become a believer. Around here it's about half the price of Maxima. Great mono....the best . Cheers from Vancouver Island Bro. :)

So in the video your main line was mono. I know that braid doesn't have the stretch that mono does but does it scare fish off in crystal clear water if you use it as your main line to the barrel swivel? I have a 13' noodle rod and would like to use braid for hook sets and visibility.

For spinning reels I'll never buy anything other than trions or presidents. For the price nothing beats them. I just picked up a real light centerpin reel and I'll probably find some super high vis line from bloodrun or something, but trilene xl has been my favorite all around mono for 20 plus years of fishing. Power pro is my favorite braid, and while I love red label, cheap Vanish has always treated me well. I fish mostly the chagrin and occasionally the grand the two days of the year it's not bath tub clear or chocolate milk muddy. I usually run 4.5-6.5 gram floats for around me. It's relatively small water aside from certain sections of the grand

Unless I'm fishing sub-freezing conditions, I would definitely recommend a higher lb test braid for main line...you're safe running all the way up to 50 lb even on those light/medium-light action rods rated for 6-15 lb line. Braided line floats on the water and is more visible, easier to mend the line going to the float, and it'll almost always save an expensive float during a snag up or when a larger fish breaks off that leader line. I've lost too many floats when using mono as my mainline...I don't mind losing hooks or beads, but losing your favorite $17 or $20 1 oz float to a snag or fish wrapping around some rocks really sucks.
