Crazy! Glad you guys are ok and there wasn't extensive damage to the boat. Hopefully the whale shark ended up surviving. We hit one a couple years ago on a tour we were doing in Hawaii on a catamaran and it did something similar, but ended up swimming off after about an hour. The captain and crew jumped in with it to make sure it was ok. Crazy stuff happens at sea. Thanks for sharing the experience.

Most of the time big guys like whales can easily take the hit. It doesn't mean they might not be more than a little irritated about it. Sometimes the boat might get a big slapback depending on the species. There have been some ki-llings usually by steel boats with razor sharp front ends.

@@adventurecrews Some of the bigger whales ram each other at pretty great speeds...don't know about whale sharks they look pretty docile. People in Asia used to fill their mouths up with rocks when they came to the surface....they thought they were eating all the fish. Then they realized the sharks were more lucrative for tourism. Did you ever figure out how much energy your watermaker was using??
