"Hopefully, It starts..." Spoken like a true do it yourselfer. I changed the plugs/upper plenum gaskets on my JK last night...what an adult vocabulary workout. I've changed the plugs on all my vehicles...but this was by far the most involved. Good news is, it started right up...bad news is, I wasn't aware that there was a tightening sequence on the upper intake bolts and believe I cracked the lower intake, as there is now what sounds like a vacuum leak...which means I get to do this all over again...and then some. Protip: Know the tightening sequence and do NOT exceed 7lbs torque....the lower intake is plastic, and WILL crack. Buh bye another $200.

My future son-in-law and I did this in 3hrs today. I thought for first timers it was a good time. He’s 17. I have a 2016 unlimited sport. There was a bracket between the battery and the manifold w 4-10 bolts we had to remove that attached to the side of the manifold. Other than that it was straight forward. We tackled the passenger side first and I think that is easier, because the manifold is scary. If you change those 3, u can’t look back. I recommend a long and medium socket extension and you may need both size socket sets. There are some brackets and retainer walls that make a couple coils and plugs hard to get too. We only had the long extension for the plugs. It was a fun experience and big confidence booster for both of us. Purring like a kitten and no codes 💪🏻

I was thinking that I met as well swap out the oil cooler while the intake manifold is off - and replace with an aluminum Dorman part since we know it's just a matter of time before the plastic OE part starts leaking. So plugs, gaskets, and oil cooler make sense to do at same time. I have 55K on my JK.

Hey man !!! Thanks so much, I actually was watching your video and copying what you were doing on my wife’s Jeep JK. She is so emotional about her Jeep and she called me from work and was freaking out about her Jeep having some long crank issues and demanded I change her plugs. It took me 3 hours and a lot of patience and bravery as I didn’t want to mess anything up by doing such a dismantling. But it worked out ! I actually prayed to God that he would help me not to break any plastic clips or lose anything where I couldn’t get it, and to help me do a good job. I have worked on a lot of cars and trucks in the past with no issues but today’s engine bays are packed so tight that you got to remove 3 things just to get to what is broken. Anyway thanks again. I just subscribed and thumbs up.

@TheJaciad23 жыл бұрын
Are you completely missing the bracket on the left side of the manifold? On my '14, there is a bracket with two screws that completely prevent you from removing the plenum that easily. I ended up having to loosen up the back right bracket on the bottom and remove the front bracket all together. Random aside for all of the people saying you need to check the gap, if you are using iridium plugs, you don't mess with it because you can break the diode. Overall, good video that highlights the big points.

Great video. Thank you!! So, I just purchased a 2016 jeep wrangler sport four-door manual trans. Check engine light came on six hours after purchase. We got a cylinder two misfire detected which can apparently be one of three things. One ignition coil. To intake gasket or three and probably most common, spark plugs. I am just a beginner, so can anyone second the statement? Is this correct? Also, when I took it back to the dealers mechanic he said she would replace the spark plugs and ignition coil and that it would take over three hours of labor costing me $309. On top of about another $190 for the parts. So after tax this job is taking this mechanic three hours and charging me 500 bucks after taxes. Is this a good deal? Fair deal? Or rip off? Why or why not? Thank you guys so much!! 👊
