Very informative. Best spark plug change video for the jeep wrangler and it helped me significantly! The rear spark plug on the passenger side was the biggest pain without a swivel socket or the right size extension... I went through a gap in the cables by the positive battery terminal to get straight down into the hole without a swivel!

Very well done! I have to say I miss my old 75 Chevelle though where I could just pull off the wire and have immediate access to all the plugs.

Yes! The same with the two TJ’s (Distributor Cap or Coil) I have videos for on this channel as well. Much easier! Thank you for watching!

Thanks, I couldn’t have done it without you. I wasn’t able to unplug the ETC and couldn’t easily disconnect a wiring harness on the passenger side from the manifold, but with everything else undone the manifold was free enough to lift and get under for the driver’s coils. Also, it was easier to use a box end on the driver’s middle coil bolt.

Thank you for watching! I posted your comment so others can see your choice to use the box wrench. I am glad the video helped!

Thanks, your video is the best I've seen. I did my plug change a about three months ago and just now getting around to a comment. My change went smoothly thanks toyour step by step viedo. Only question I have is, do you recommend changing coil packs with plugs (changed plugs only at 100,000 mi.)? I have read both ways, change as a preventive step and OEM coils are better and don't change unless you are have an issue. I did not change mine and itis running fine.

Glad it helped! Thank you for watching our channel. This is a great question. Coil packs are designed to last longer than spark plugs. On the JK Owners Manual it doesn’t spell it out. Spark plugs are at approximately 100,000 miles. Some mechanics recommend changing the coil packs at the same time. Especially since you did all the work to get to the driver side plugs. For my Jeeps, unless there is a problem, I don’t change them until one starts to fail then I change them all. But if I was going to target a mileage, it would be between 150K-200K by the 2nd time I change the plugs. Since I can do it on my own, I don’t want to prematurely waste money when not necessary. I rarely have had coils fail early. I know on some other vehicles they recommend 100K miles. There are different designs. Again, strictly my opinion, and many take a more conservative approach.

John's Jeep Garage, thank you for the video, it was done well. I watched this for general information as I have the front wheel drive version of this engine in my "12 Chrysler 200 Touring convertible. I plan on cleaning the throttle body and replacing the spark plugs on my 200 by summer.

Amazing video. I have to change a leaking oil filter cooler assembly and am way over due for plugs. Might as well change them.

Thank you! Also - since you are that far with the oil cooler, replace your upper and lower manifold gaskets. Thank you for watching! 😎✌🏼

Have fun! Remember a couple things, take pictures, and make sure you reconnect everything. Many people forget, and then have to go back in it twice. The second recommendation is while in there, inspect and change your upper valve cover gaskets. You could go a little deeper and change the other ones as well. Thank you again for watching.

Great video. What is the deep socket size for the spark plugs. Do you recommend one? Link?
@JohnsJeepGarage Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. There are many options. Look up this on Amazon and see if this meets your needs. You will see others that have the swivel connections. The size is 5/8”. Amazon - Performance Tool W38162 3/8-Inch Drive 5/8-Inch Extra Long Spark Plug Socket ARES 11028 - Extra Deep 5/8-Inch Spark Plug Socket - 3/8-Inch Drive Spark Plug Socket - 6-Inch Long 6-Point Socket I look for the ones that are also magnetic to spend a few dollars more.

You didn't mention that you have to remove that bracket on the passenger side by going in through the wheel well. This means taking the front tire off.
@JohnsJeepGarage2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t mention it because You don’t need to do it. My video shows you everything that is done when we do it. Unless you have a different set up that I’m on aware of what you were mentioning is definitely does not need to be done. Would love to learn more about what you are describing.

@@JohnsJeepGarage Sorry, my mistake. There's a bracket that makes it difficult to get at the middle plug on the passenger side. Some vids show that you have to go in through the wheel well to remove it. I thought you'd taken it off.
@JohnsJeepGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the information. I am going to see what they do differently. We never have removed it. It is tight but even a local shop here doesn't do it. I want to watch some others on KZbin to see further why they do it. I appreciate the feedback.
@NationalBassFishingShow Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure why you would need to do that? All 4 bolts are easily accessible on my 2016.
