Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 KZbin videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

Galician here. The palms planted in front of the houses was, traditionaly, a symbol of a Indian house, meaning someone that went to South America and came back. I don´t think nobody in galicia likes the eucalypthos, it is an invaside specie planted by the wood industry and it destroys the natural habitat of the native trees like Carballos (oaks) and wild pine trees. Eucalipthos are also one of the reasson why there are this uncontrolable fires that we are suffering every two or three years here, including this year 2022 where they have to evacuate a town the same day I´m writting this :( The horreo had this legs so the rats do not eat the grain. You also past through a cruceiro at 5:00 which is also a tipical galician structure that historically referred to a crossroad, with the christian cross on the top because in medieval times, bandits use to lurk on the crossroads to rob people, so it was an attempt to make the road somehow protected by Jesus or something. It´s always a pleasure to have someone showing our culture and our way of living man ! Cheers

I live in Galicia. I'm American, but Galicia is my chosen home. I love the video, but it was disappointing to hear you have so many lovely interactions with the locals, then go on to say that despite that, Galicians are known to be unfriendly compared to other Spaniards. That has not been my experience at all. As a foreigner living here, I've been humbled to tears on many occasions at the kindness, helpfulness and openness of Galegos. I love them and hate for people to believe that if they come here, they would be met with suspicion or unfriendliness.

@chico_zombye
@chico_zombye Жыл бұрын
@@tatianaschoenfield9819 We are not really that reserved, we are just too "to the point" for a lot of cultures. People think we are harsh sometimes but we just tend to not sugarcoat anything, so when someone comes and takes his time to get to the point (which is the common way of speaking in most places) it's probably going to get a "yeah, but what do you really want?" stare because tha's a suspicious way of talking here, you are hiding your true intentions (the question itself). It goes both ways for when we want to say a good thing, like the old woman who just said "Tonecho(name), this guy is lovely, come talk to him", straight to the point even when complimenting him. A simple example: "hey, do you know a place to eat?" to a complete stranger will have 100% of our atention and help. "hey, hi, I'm Lucas, I'm traveling from Vasque Country to Santiago and I'm exhausted already, would you know a place to stay and relax around here?" will have a "what do you really want?" look until the "Would you know a place to...." because we just don't use that way of comunication, it sounds suspicious to us. That's why we are famous for replying with another question. Because if things are not very clear, if we don't trust the question, we will use our own safety net which is asking to be sure.

When I travel to visit family in O'Grove, it takes several days for my brain to decipher the Galician speech and cadence. The language is a mixture of Spanish, Portuguese and a sprinkle of French. The area is beautiful and the people are friendly, but guarded. I'm glad you touched on the dark side of paradise. We lost a cousin (over 30 years ago) to a heroin overdose. Superb video! I learned a lot. I lived in Lugo, Galicia, with a Spanish speaking family, when I had 16 years. As an adult now, I know I didn't appreciate Galicia as much as I do now. Thank you for showing me more places of this beautiful province of España. I'm a cycling enthusiast, and today's stage (13) of the 2024 Vuelta a España started in Lugo. Loving every minute of it. Muchisimas gracias!

I spent close to a month on Galicia in the summer of 2017 with my girl. We're Both brazilians with fatherly grandparents that immigrated from europe (mine from austria, hers from galicia). Since we visited her great uncles there, as well as Cabo Finisterra, I was really touched by the fact that you interacted with so many elderly people on the video. Also because galego and portuguese are such similar languages. And because this greener, colder Spain was so pleasant to me. Thanks for uploading it.

I'm from Barcelona (Northeast Spain) but I've been living in Galicia (Northwest Spain) for more than seven years. There's a distance of about 1,000 kilometres between Catalonia (the autonomous community where Barcelona is) and Galicia, and the idiosyncratic differences between Catalans and Galicians are remarkable. I wouldn't call Galicia 'the strangest region of Spain' but, yeah, Galicians are far quieter than the average Spaniard and slightly aloof. There's a Spanish saying that goes 'Galicians are reserved, but those who make a Galician friend have a friend for the rest of their lives'.

Thank you for a wonderful video and I am crying now because I hiked part of the Camino and my dad would have been so happy. Still trying to get back and hike the entire Camino. Galicia is beautiful. When I was in Santiago I had to go to a laundromat. My hiking clothes were washed, dried and wrapped in white paper with string, like a gift. I don't know why I remember this except Maria, the manager of the pension I stayed at explained the name. The laudromat was in Gallego so she wrote out the name for me. There are so many cultures, languages and history in Spain. Such a beautiful country.
