It looks like they detrained everyone at the Acacia Ridge yard? Which is weird because it’s a stones throw from Roma Street. Coincidentally the bit of track between Acacia Ridge and Roma street is used heavily by QR for their services to the Gold Coast which the XPT has to clear the track for, so I’d take ‘track maintenance’ with a bit of salt. QR are known to bend the truth at times

I reckon QR already doesn’t like the XPT coming in on their turf. They probs said maintenance to give QR trains the right of way 😂.

Nice trip. The story i heard about the XPT being stopped at Acacia Ridge was kind of caused by miscommunication between Queensland Rail and NSW Trains. Or QR decided to be dicks

Thanks Patrick. That makes a lot of sense. We were very lucky that we didn't have real reason to be at Roma Station by 4:53pm anyway. In all honesty the whole event provided a little extra entertainment for us but that wasn't the same for most of the other passengers.

Hi Martin, thanks for the feedback on my video. Ah yes a ‘Brekkie Pie’. This depends on who you speak to but normally it’s just a standard steak pie consumed as a breakfast item. Some people go all fancy and have been know to have a bacon and egg pie but generally speaking it’s just a pie had for breakfast.

Wait wut?? Scheduled maintenance? how did the train not get through?

I don't like buses. To be told we had to get off the train and onto a bus would annoy me intensely. Especially if it was because of "scheduled maintenance". That being the case, they should have told you, well beforehand and given you the opportunity of cancelling or deferring your trip.

I agree Bill it was a bit annoying to be left in the dark and not make it to our destination however we had nice weather and it didn't spoil our trip overall.

Hi There, Thanks for the kind feedback. Not that I can recall. My wife an I are both fairly sensitive to smells like that and I don't remember it being a problem whilst inside out cabin.

@@glendinfb Thanks. I've gone with a first class seat just to be safe. I had a very bad experience on the XPT from sydney to melbourne. was getting poisioned by deisel fumes. Really messed up the journey. Now I'm a bit scared, especially since it is a lot costlier to go sleeper.
