I went to see Jimmy Carr a month ago and it was one of the best stand up shows I've been to. I've run comedy clubs in the past so I've seen a lot of comedians! Yes he can be close to the bone but they are JOKES, but that's made obvious and they always come from a good place. Nobody walked out of this show. And I've never seen anybody better than him when talking with the audience - he actually ENCOURAGED heckles and I've barely seen anyone respond with better off the cuff one liners than him. Jimmy Carr is one of my favourite comedians, for his speed of thought and word play. Some other favourites are: Sean Lock (RIP) for his relatable mad guy next door persona, Ross Noble for being energetically nuts, Dara O'Briain for his story-telling, but there are so many more. If there's one thing the Brits have in spades, it's top-notch and diverse comedians. PS: I don't think many, if any, people walk out of Jimmy's sets, it's well known what you're going to get. And he does do a lot of quick 1-2 liners, broken up with the odd longer gag.

(which is incredibly funny). Other than that, obvious one to react to is Al Murray's Pub Landlord (specifically the World - I think its called, when he goes around every country GB has owned, conquered or conquered by default) Older ones, being more tv series being: Some Mother do Ave em' (my picture) The Two Ronnies (specifically - Four Candles sketch) Only Fools and Horses (specifically - The bar sketch) Other one liners: (yes some of these are american/canadian but they mainly do GB scene) Tim Vine Stuart Francis Milton Jones

I've seen him live twice in Canada, and the stadium was packed both times. One of the things with his live tours are people go specifically to get picked on and insulted by him. I personally didn't see anyone leave either of them, but I could certainly see that happening. One thing to keep in mind is that the jokes you see online aren't really anywhere close to his actual most 'offensive' jokes...he saves those for his live tours, even mentioning that people aren't allowed to record specifically because he knows if some of the jokes he tells were to 'get out' he would be cancelled. And after hearing them, I can certainly understand his concern over some of them...they take brutal to a whole new level. Personally, I find his comedy on the panel shows like 8 Out Of 10 Cats overall funnier, mostly because he is playing off of other comedians who can usually give as good as they take, but his stand up is interesting to witness. And yes, a good amount of the time he is doing one-off jokes, although there are a lot of call-backs during the set, with jokes referencing earlier jokes.

Which ended up with a glut of them on the DVD shelves around Xmas time. There's also Viz magazine which has been going around for 35+ years. All in all, far too many to choose from. First, they came for the jesters...If a comedian has talent and can use it, then nothing is off limits. The comedian alone defines the boundaries. If your reaction involves laughter, then you recognise a joke and the comedian has perfected their craft as well as opening a safety valve, and, as a bonus, has let in light and air. The humourless constituency are a frightening bunch. PS: Bless you for having a poster of a painting by the titan that was Caspar David Friedrich.

I saw him live for the first time a few months ago, and he could go from being quite sensitive and respectful, especially in the parts of the show where he interacts with the audience, to saying things that made your jar drop. But the interesting thing was everyone seemed to have their own limit point. He could make a joke where half the audience laughed and the other half took a sharp intake of breath. Then make another joke and get the same response, but from two different halves of the audience.

Five minutes of Jimmy Carr is enough for me. Frankie Boyle adds more to the same formula and takes it new places. I don’t really have a favourite per se, but in historical order, Dave Allen, Suzy Izzard (who will appear as Eddie Izzard) - they both tell stories most of the time - and Milton Jones - who mostly tells one-liners. But Britain has a long tradition of sketch comedy too, The Two Ronnies, Porridge, Dad's Army and more are all worth checking out

You didn't even get one of his most offensive ones: “If only Africa had more mosquito nets, then every year we could save millions of mosquitoes from dying needlessly of AIDS”.

Frank Skinner (UK 90s comedian) once was approached after a show by a frumpy-looking lady, and she angrily informed him that his act was verging on the offensive. He replied: "Darling, there's only one virgin on the offensive in THIS room". Harry Hill and his TV Burps.

Offensive!!😂 Frankie Boyle annihilates audience makes Jimmy look tame! Dave Allen is also so underrated, along with George Carlin and Bill Hicks, Milton Jones and Stewart Francis!!

Jimmy Carr is the King of dark humour. His crowd work is arguably the greatest of any comedian to date. I highly recommend the video compilation of him dealing with heckles
