In this video I take a boat trip from Battery Park in Manhattan across to Liberty Island to see the world famous State Of Liberty. This incredible monument was constructed in France and was presented as a gift to the United States Of America in 1886.
Statue Cruises are the official tour operator that provide boat trips to both Liberty and Ellis Island from 2 different pick up locations. Along with taking in the fantastic views of New York City, I share the complete experience of travelling across to the island including a full tour of the various different shops and facilities. I also head up to the Crown of the Statue Of Liberty for a unique look inside this incredible structure!

Just think...how Kool it would be to be able to walk all the way up up up..the arm and walk around the Flame ..that's what alot of people were able to do back in the early 50's...I know I was one of the thousands who did..but at last all good things must come to a end...Deemed unsafe..and closed to the public forever more...the crown is the highest you can reach into...

Very interesting! I also remember people being able to visit the torch (never have myself) as recently as the early 90's, but everything I've read says the torch has been off-limits to tourists since the Black Tom Island explosion in 1916.

I grew up in NY, and when I was a kid, I went to the Statue of Liberty on a class trip. I remember the spiral stairs and that it was a long walk up to the crown, but I enjoyed it. I wish I could remember more. This was back in the sixties, maybe the very early seventies, and the torch was off limits. I remember the spiral stairs looking older than what I see in this video, so they must have been replaced over the years. I moved away from NY in 1988. The last time I went to the Statue of Liberty was 13 years ago. I was in NY working on selling what had been my family's apartment and since I brought a friend with me, she wanted to go see the statue, so we did. I looked up into it from inside the pedestal, but I didn't know anyone was being allowed to go through it up to the crown. It was so nice to see all of this in a video! Thanks, Shawn!!!

I went there when I was in the 5th grade and we counted the stairs going up into the crown....lmao!! It was fun, though. There are 300 something steps to the crown with no real elevators (except for one that only takes you up 150 steps). You are a real trooper for climbing those. Now that I am older, no way jose would I climb all those steps....lmao!! I, recently, made a trip back there on March 31, 2018 (Easter weekend). I had brought a ticket for a guided tour of both Liberty and Ellis Island. So glad the ferry ride was included in the ticket price (I see they raised the price again. It was $18.00 last year). We did not go up to the crown thank goodness. I hope you get a chance to go back and see Ellis Island. It's so worth it and by the cafe, you can get really awesome views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and New Jersey. I read the museum will be opened in May of this year. I think I'll be making another trip. You went on a good day when it's not so crowded. Because of the cold, not as many people. Spring and summer are busy. Oh and be sure to take a ride on the Seaglass Carousel in Battery Park. It's totally worth it. Also check out the Skyscraper Museum. Yes, helicopters fly around there all the time because they do helicopter tours. I like to call the Manhattan skyline an optical illusion. The tall buildings make it seem closer; but when you view things from the other side, you can really see how far apart things are. Great video. 😃

I’m absolutely ok with flying but petrified of heights in buildings etc. Thank goodness I watched this. If I ever make it to the States I’m definitely not climbing up there! I felt nervous just watching you do this. And if you say you actually feel the structure sway too I’d be passing out! Imagine it’s moving as you climb those tight stairs with the low safety rail!
