It's cheaper then to stay on as an overstayer as opposed to getting an extension.I paid 3040 pisos for 29 days extension whereas I could have overstayed for 29 days and paid just 1000 pisos.

I just read your comment and I suspect you would be very lucky because the regs require all outstanding fees to be paid. This includes the original extension fee plus the penalty so I don't know how it could be cheaper. There is always the risk when overstaying at the time the immigration/customs could blacklist you for future trips if they decide circumstances warrant it in their opinion. Always cheaper to stay legal in the long run.

As usual it's all about the money, and people giving different solutions: my suggestion don't overstay regardless of what is what don't overstay... It's not a matter if you can pay or not.. because we all can pay, just follow the rules.

be very cautious, one prominent immigration service has people standing outside their office which is close to the philippine government office and when they see a white guy with a filipina they will approach you and ask you if you are looking for visa extentsion. my fiance said yes we wanted the visa extention and the person said they don't do it in the government office and directed us to their office. i paid extra for the service plus we had to stay until the next day because they kept my passport overnite. i thought something wasn't right so we went to tthe government office and they said yes we process visa extention. i was pissed. they gave us a little money back. i not sure if they can be trusted after a dirty trick like that. be careful.

I went to Davao for my 60 day extention and that same lady approached us again. I guess she didn't remember us. Anyway we used the government office and was in and out quickly. No charge from a private company and because last time they held my passport no overnight motel fee. While in Davao I like staying at the Jotel Inn. It's clean,new, and reasonable. 900 php per night. Not fancy but the beds are clean and comfortable and the shower water is warm.

Im new to this..I am from Canada and Im thinking of going Philippines long term. Question.. do I buy a 1 way ticket from Canada to Manila AND another Separate ticket for example manila to hong kong? or do I do multi city ( Canada to Manila to hong kong )? As a USA citizen you get a 29 day tourist visa. In the past pre covid, I have applied and paid for my 1st extension, upon arrival at Cebu BI. Recently at arrival at NAIA BI, I asked for a 1st extension. The BI agent said, it was not available. Keep in mind, i arrived at a Sunday at 0400. Maybe thats why, but I can only speculate. I just applied for my 1st extension, at Satellite office BI at Auro Building at BGC. I was allowed only a 29 day extension, at 3,050 PHP incuding express fee. Next ext. I can do a 6 month ext. Since this video is about Immigration rules in the Philippines, there is one simple answer to your first three questions. Foreign nationals, international passengers or foreign tourists are those who are not citizens of the Philippines. You said you're a citizen of the US, right? You are counted as a foreign national/tourist or an international passenger when it comes to the Philippines.

Regarding to your fouth question, no. You only get 30 days upon arrival, and you have to apply for a visa waiver extension (that's up to 29 days) to the immigration office before your original 30-day visa waiver period ends. Only Brazilians and Israelis automatically get 59 days visa-free period upon arrival. The rest must be in possesion of a tourist visa to get up to 59 days initial stay upon arrival.

If you will enter the Philippines without a visa, you can get a visa waiver extension of up to 29 days before your initial 30-day visa-free period ends. So you may be able to stay in the Philippines up to 59 days. You only have to get the 9a visa (and its succeeding extensions) if you plan to stay for more than 59 days.

@Cliff G - if you've consumed your 3 years total stay period in the Philippines and you need to leave, you need to be out of the country for atleast 24 hours before you can come back. 😊

Yes you can apply for additional 30 days . Then 2 months Go to a immigration office the week before you're visa expires

Hi Jocelyn, my parents applied for a dual citizenship three months ago in the Philippines. They're allowed to stay there for one year. Now, the one year will expire this month and they have not received their certificate of Dual Citizenship yet. Jocelyn, you can buy a 59 day visa in your home country in advance, if you know you a re going to stay longer than 30 days. I have done it in Australia and it costs $54Au - P2K saves so much time and queuing in PI. My return trip is inside the 59 day Visa in my passport so there is no issue at customs/immigration in Manila. The only extra is you have to provide a couple of passport photos with the application at the PI Embassy.

@Zobra Kaput - I definitely agree with you. Getting the PH visa in advance is a good idea for those who want to stay in the Philippines on a long term basis. Because foreigners traveling to PH with a valid visa will be granted an initial stay period of 59 days upon arrival, they will also be able to get a visa extension of up 60 days (or even 6 months in some imigration offices) on their first extension.

Unlike those foreigners who travel to the Philippines visa-free, they will be granted an initial stay period of only 30 days and they can only get the visa waiver extension of up to 29 days on their first extension. They will only be able to get the 2 months extension (or 6 months in some immigration offices) once they get a PH tourist visa on their second extension.

With regard to the return or onward ticket. If i get the 30 day free visa on arrival, but plan to stay 59 days by getting the extension when i am there, does the return or onward ticket i have for day 59 work for this rule? Or do you have to have the return or onward ticket valid for before the initial 30 days are finished? Even although i plan to extend when entered the country.

@@simplyshane4359 thanks for the offer. I actually went from Thailand but nobody asked me about onward ticket, or even when I went to immigration there. But maybe just pot luck if they ask or not. Harder getting out of the country as they had so many questions and wanted to see onward ticket not only back to Thailand, but also onward ticket out of Thailand.
