I like your pen analogy; sometimes it does seem like we make life harder than it has to be. We watch a TED talk video titled "Life is easy. Why do we make it so hard? | Jon Jandai | TEDxDoiSuthep" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGLNkIJ5g7Goj8k ) to remind us to keep it simple.

I grew up with Mt Rainier in my backyard... most of the time it was not visible because of clouds/overcast. Whenever the weather is fine, western Washingtonians are known to greet each other with 'mountains out!'. Once I heard a children's sermon in which the pastor used this as a description of faith. He asked the children whether they could always see Mt Rainier, and of course their answer was no. So, he asked 'but you know it's still there right?' That's much like God in our life! Sometimes, God's glorious touch is obvious and sometimes it's just 'known'. And if we doubt that Mt Rainier is there anymore, we just have to get closer til we can see it! Just like God!!! Awesome metaphor that I've never forgotten, and I heard it at least 45 years ago.

Every time I watch a video of you both hiking gets me motivated to get back walking. Wished I had friends to do trails with but the local parks will do...question(s), do you keep a digital copy of the wonderful places you've been? Would be cool to see something like that one day.. Anyways, you should've been tired running ahead to place the camera down then running back to get it 😁😅 bet you actually walked 8 miles because of it lol Can't wait to see the property as well as what Mom & you build on the land.

I remember before you cut your hair that our curl texture was somewhat similar. Your hair has grown a lot since then so I was thinking maybe you can try doing a protective style while telling us a story about one of your adventures. Twists/braids can keep your hair protected for a good week and a half to two weeks (sometimes even longer)! Also, congratulations to you and your mom for completing the hike! I can’t wait to see your land in Alaska! Save travels 🖤

When I am out camping and if near a running river or stream I dip a bucket of water from it and warm a pot of it to make a relaxing shower. I used bungee cords and a tarp as an enclosure. Wear water shoes do my feet want get dirty. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I have had no water for 3 years. I use the two two spray bottles method 1.water and 2.alcohol and "cheap gold mouth wash". or vinegar and water. I like the first method, which is also my hand sanitizer. So easy and always ready. Oh and it kills bug too.

Thanks for the hygiene tour! I’m traveling out of a Tahoe and I’ve been figuring this stuff out too. For dishes I use a spray bottle with soapy water and paper towel (I try to find bamboo and recycled towels, but they aren’t always available). I might try your bucket method to reduce paper waste. How do you deal with bugs and mosquitos? I often skip cooking dinner because I don’t want bugs to get inside my car while I cook from the trunk, my setup is similar to yours. I love your content!
