Norma, I right there with you. I’m emotional just writing this. I don’t know how this video came up on my KZbin feed YESTERDAY (!) but im so appreciative. I mentioned about ACEs to my husband(this morning) , who just thinks i over react, im so negative, I explode when (he thinks) it’s unnecessary…. (list goes on and on) and he said well you should do something about it. He just thinks im mean and unsociable. Im going to look for more help. I don’t hv money to buy information, so I’ll just hv to get what I can out of this and other videos. Im thinking to send this video to him, and my son & daughter - im attacked when I misbehave, by them all . So belittling I knew I am a good person….

until my late teen year, whenever someone raise his/her voice, i will start to cry uncontrollably , whether it's a teacher or classmate, in angry or joking manner or just by accident, and I'm a guy with big posture for my age, so I'm easily becoming a target for bullying because of how easy I cried. It takes years to realize that those crying is a traumatic response because when I was child, only after I cried my father stop beating me, and that carried over to social situation when I recognise threat (someone raising his/her voice), I start crying, my body automate the response if there's threat, then start crying I hope for your succes in your therapy

@@reg8297 The economic conditions have a ton to do with it... inflation 60 years ago. Family support is another huge factor. It's the neurodevelopmental issues like ADHD in which the parents and the kids have non-willful impairments with non-obvious genetic causes.

I can relate. My identity was depersonalized, I now recognize, by the names I was called, such as Suzie Q (generic little girl) and “Old Lady Foolabaker, who has more aches than Doan’s makes pills for.” I still have pain magnification with emotional stress, and have always had the inability to absorb nutrients. I physically flush out food immediately before and after eating. Meals were always high scrutinization periods, ignoring or enjoying the reaction of forcing milk or other foods that caused adverse reactions. I guess I was a high needs child before anyone could identify that.

watching this video and realizing how confused I am about romantic love, processing my thoughts out loud: 1 - look at me. (I'm so damn unattractive. could someone actually be attracted to me?) 2 - fat, old, frumpty-dumpty: me. 3 - but then how are beautiful people attracted to unattractive people? (I see this all the time!) 4 - is attraction about something other than physical looks? 5 - but I'm in love with a person, and I don't really even know exactly what they look like... (online love.) 6 - but they say men are so visual... 7 - and what about ugly people in beautiful relationships? 8 - I was crazy about someone once, and yet 100% not physically attracted to them! 9 - am I pretty? 10 - what did my love interests passed love interests look like? (could I ever compare?) 11 - I'm ashamed of who I am.

My first idea was that Covid would be fine for kids, that's more time with their parents ! Mine both worked a lot and I was often alone before starting school at 4 or 5, but of course other issues than solitude may be predominant... Also in Europe most people are still paid at least 70% of their salary, so it's not that "traumatic" for now.

You are assuming the parents are healthy and able to meaningfully connect with children. Here in the US we are seeing many cases of children confined with parents who are desperately struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues and the children are no longer able to get the respite that school provided. Child abuse and domestic violence are increasing rapidly.

@@DocSnipes Sadly true, a 2020 poll in France estimated the number of victims of incest at 10% of the population ! Maybe you also heard about this recent scandal with "French" elites now under the spotlight for such a story. Olivier Duhamel an official and intellectual recently resigned after being accused by the sister of his stepson, who was abused for years. The worst part is that many people were aware of it, including the real father, Bernard Kouchner a well known former official, director of Doctors without Borders, and the mother who was alcoholic, also a public figure. The only person who talked about it at that time was quickly found dead in her pool (Marie-France Pisier, the aunt of the victim). Now the twin sister Camille Kouchner just wrote a book about it, "La Famila Grande"...

They receive both maternal and paternal leave pay for the child's first year so that both parents can stay home. All medical care is universal and considered a humanitarian right. Please Read! This is my best friend's story. Precious Memories- By Sonya Lakey We had no idea that the evening of September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our oldest son played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for him (which he usually did for himself) for the church hike he was going on the following day. My mom, who was visiting from out of state, and I got up early with him on Saturday morning to hug him and see him off. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own. As he pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mom and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw our 16 year old son. He did not make it home that night. That afternoon, a friend had tried to contact us, leaving a message on the phone to call back due to an emergency, but we really had no clue what was going on. And though we tried several times to return the call, we were not able to make a connection. As I helped prepare supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan and dread filled my heart, and I quietly blinked back tears. I looked out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pulling in, but no. However, within minutes, a police car DID pull in our driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst, but I went outside to speak with him. He confirmed who I and my husband (who followed me out) were, then hesitantly told us our son had fallen off a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed.... Still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, we have such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son again. You see, even as a young boy, Ethan realized some very important truths from God's Word. He had sinned against a righteous, holy and just God. The Bible says: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23) “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) He understood that his sin separated him from God, and he deserved to spend eternity in Hell. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) He understood he could not pay the price for his sins. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Ethan realized that, 'though he could not pay the price for his sins, the price had already been paid in full by the blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus lived a perfectly sinless life. He had no fault of His own. But Jesus was crucified for our sins, and He took on Himself the sins of every person in the whole world. He was beaten, spit on, whipped, mocked, scourged, and nailed to the Cross of Calvary. He shed every drop of His righteous blood - because that was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous God - so we could be made righteous in Him. He suffered all of that so Ethan - and you and I - would not have to spend eternity in the Lake of Fire, but so we could spend eternity in Heaven with HIM! THAT is a great LOVE. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) Jesus did not stay on the cross, nor did He stay in the tomb where His body was buried. Three days later, Jesus arose triumphant over sin and death and the grave. Ethan believed this with his whole heart, asked Jesus to forgive his sins, and he put his faith in Jesus Christ ALONE to save him from sin and eternal death and to take him to Heaven someday. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus and others. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. We know he is alive in Heaven with Jesus today, and we know we will see him again soon, not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour! What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day? Would your family, though grieving, be able to rejoice in the knowledge that they would see you again in Heaven, or would you be burning in Hell today? The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) Have YOU trusted Jesus as YOUR Saviour? Have you repented of your sins? Have you asked Jesus to forgive you so you can go to Heaven & not have to spend eternity in the Lake of Fire? Tomorrow may be too late. As Ethan pulled out of sight that morning, we had no idea we would never see him again in this life. None of us have the promise of tomorrow! Repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus alone - today! “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2) "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." James 4:14

If these events are the natural course of life, then we might be more focused upon chronic abuse or neglect trauma during childhood as a cause for emotional or personality disturbances. Realize, too, that regardless of what trauma may have occurred, we have choices how to respond, rather than simply react. It is important we educate ourselves, and maybe engage in some introspection and self-assessment. In the end, it's all a matter of "degree" or extent and type of the trauma. So many variables.

Aces is a test too see how much childhood trauma you received and how it affects you and your health. The acronym stands for adverse childhood experiences. The score is from 0-10. The higher you go the more adverse experiences you were exposed to. Yes it definitely is trauma. But from childhood.

Borderline mother. Their isolation of their children is one of the worst things they do, along with the actual abuse. I've read the one resiliency score that I think has 14 questions. I can claim only one. I think that's what really doomed me. I had no one. Just what a borderline wants as they see their children as possessions. Not someone they want to raise to become a functioning adult.

Aces is a test that professionals in the mental health field use to determine how much childhood trauma an individual was exposed to as a child. The acronym stands for Adverse Childhood Effects and the score ranges from 0-10. The higher you score the more trauma you were exposed to and the more it is related to a range of problems a person can experience especially your health. I hope that helps.

thank you, some good points. but it’s somewhere between out of touch and insulting to suggest that financial literacy classes are any kind of meaningful solution to poverty. if the same amount of energy thrown at projects like those was put toward fighting the ever worsening wealth inequality in our country, we might get somewhere. you don’t have energy to clip coupons when you’ve worked 65 hours a week to just narrowly escape eviction. you can’t buy the items necessary to raise your credit score and get better rates when you don’t have money. if we continue to keep people in the kind of poverty that we do, they are going to be continually too stressed out and busy to deal with their mental health, too stressed out and busy for their kids, and keep passing the trauma down the line. no one should have to sacrifice so much just to barely float, yet this is so normalized in this country. it’s not lack of awareness or education, it’s unchecked corruption and exploitation.

You are focusing on one aspect. It is important to remember that not everyone is financially literate which does not mean clipping coupons...it means understanding how to budget. Additionally, the video presented a multitude of interventions that need to be available in a recovery oriented system of care to assist people in recovery...just because you don't need it doesn't mean that others don't need it. It is important to focus on all solutions.

Respectfully, I don't think you know what you are talking about with respect to children with a parent or two in the military. Deployments and reunions are fraught with all kinds of harm. Multiple moves. Family member needs are subordinate to the mission. A strong need for the family to look good. The danger involved in the parent's profession. There are pluses for children of the military culture, but don't minimize the harm and damage.

It's neurodivergent/neurodiverse, not "neuroatypical." Neurodiversity isn't an inherently bad thing and there's nothing inherently wrong with me (or others) just because I'm neurodivergent. Accommodations exist for a reason and people should be educated about neurodiversity/neurodiverse children instead of trying to "change" us. Those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, and there's sometimes attention-deficit disorder (ADD)), specific learning disorder (impaired reading comprehension, dyslexia, dyscalculia), communication and motor disorders (childhood-onset fluency disorder, language disorder, social (pragmatic) communication disorder, Tourette's disorder), and intellectual disability (ID) all just need to be protected from those who aren't educated when it comes to neurodiversity (so, from neurotypicals especially). If you don't know that a child's neurodiverse, you still need to try to put your frustrations elsewhere instead of onto them.

Dr. Snipes, although I appreciate the way you have catagorized various traumas, I am somewhat disappointed that you didn't mention, SomatoEmotional Release, a part of CranioSacral Therapy, which directly quickly and gently addresses the types of trauma of ACE's and HPA's. Also, Emotional/Body Code Practitioners are extremely effective in assisting those who have suffered from trapped emotions, which cause physical, mental and emotional imbalances. They can determine if the traumas are inherited, absorbed or direct or indirect in nature. Both of these modalities are non invasive, non judgemental and gently stimulate the body-mind's ability to self correct.
