I could not recommend studying dance in college enough! It was a life changer for me! It is definitely more artistic based than entertainment based, but the more experience you have under your belt as a dancer, the better you become!

Auti, look at you... I am so proud of everything that you are doing with your life, especially being so proactive, inspiring others! I had the privilege of being your instructor while at CSULB and I just knew that you were going to equate to being an incredible leader in the dance community. I am going to suggest your KZbin channel to my dance students here in Houston. Sending you lots of love! Keep doing what you are doing, you are FANTASTIC!! xoxo

Hey! thank you so much for your kind words of wisdom they were definitely needed. I have been dancing for about 7 going on 8 years. (7 years of jazz, 4 years of ballet and 2 years of tap.) Every couple years I added on classes as I began to take it more seriously. Because of my different skill levels in each genre I get nervous as if colleges will accept me as there are lots of girls who have been dancing their whole life. I don't know how to get my confidence in dance back as I audition next school year as I just assume that I won't get in.

Brigham Young University Provo and Idaho both have open dance majors. They are amazing programs and some of the best in the country!! It's an awesome school!

i wanna be a choreographer as a career but self-taught dancer (doesn’t have a lot of experience) and I’m scared to try out for a dance audition. i’m just 16 years old so I have two more years to think about it(tbh really one more year) I want to build my foundations but I don’t know how or where, also do all auditions only have ballet or do they have other options.

I'm a competitive gymnast who loves to dance along side of gymnastics. I have never took a real competitive dance class before but I would love to be a choreographer when I am older. I always choreograph my teammates gymnastics floor routines. Is it possible to major in dance if you've never took a proper dance class before?

Hi Auti and anyone who reads this! I'm going to be an incoming freshman in the fall and although i am not in the program right now i would like to either major in the dance program at my school or be part of one of their dance teams. the teams range from casual to competitive and the program is fairly competitive, all require an audition. this year i cannot audition for the program but I could for the teams. the only problem is i am entirely self taught with currently minimal knowledge on terminology and subpar execution of turns and leaps etc. However I am a very hard worker, very focused and attentive, and am very passionate about dance. In my heart I know I am capable and have the emotions and mindset to succeed as a performer and dancer on some level. With quarantine atm, i only have my room space. Does anyone have suggestions as how to go about teaching myself in order to get up to speed? the only thing i can think of right now is watching YT vids and self teaching specific moves and challenging myself with YT choreographies (like ms auti's videos! i love them). But does anyone have an order or priority list as to what to teach myself and how? I know I dont have a lot of experience to stand a chance right now but given the opportunity i would train to become qualified for the teams and such, i am just seeking input and advice on how to advance quickly and efficiently. Thank you so much!

Can you still take a dance class in college without being a dance major ?

Most schools with a dance programme have classes for credit (and without)👍🏾
