Just watched the whole video, and as a new archer I appreciate the time and information that was given. Looking forward to my lessons with Tom even more now.

at 47:00. I agree that if it is working without a clicker. I agree joel has a very good mind set, but I am reluctant to go take a full course because there is no need to complicate things. I want to focus on the shot. Only focus on the shot. Don't focus on the clicker. I am reluctant to add any thing like a clicker or a full course. I only want to focus on the shot. expansion. I listen to hours and hours of podcast and I want to focus on the shot. I am reluctant take a full course and worry about too many things. I want to keep it simple: just focus on the shot. My whole work is on focusing on the shot. I still have a lot of work on that expansion: expanding slowly with meaningful thought, slowly. That is the only thing.

I’ll be applying a lot of this to my shot. Archery has become such a frustration I find enjoyment extremely difficult any more. My consistency seems to have diminished drastically in recent years. And not because I’m aging.. I’m 25. I was a better shot at 16. Now some days I’m lucky to hit a bad target at 15 yards never mind making groups. Done everything from pure instinctive to split to gap. Let’s hope some of this man’s wisdom sticks.

Local hero. 15 years ago when trad archery was struggling from bows training wheels he knew the future of archery would be back to the basics of stick and string. Their shop will set you so well you won’t need to go back for years. But I always find an excuse to make it in the shop once in a while.

I’m in Michigan, but I order as much as I can from RMS Gear. I’d like to get out to the shop in person at some point.

Awesome stuff guys, thank you for putting some info together. I would love to one day partake in a clinic with Tom sr and Joel Turner. The only downside to watching this video is I am at work and can't go pick up my bow right now and try to improve my skills.

subtlely increasing tension is impt. We tend to take short cuts. I find that I have to mean it: ie expand slowly like I mean it. Otherwise, the arrow is gone and I have not gone through the proper, slowly initiated expansion.

Man that is strange on the clickers. I put one on and absolutely became better. I never focused on the clicker...I pull, pull, pull.......then click and it breaks. I love it and will never shoot a bow without it.

at 47:00 tomsr is right. Add or not adding a clicker should not interfere with the expansion. If you are expanding correctly, the clicker will take care of it self. DO NOT FOCUS ON THE CLICKER!!!! NO NO NO!! Just expand slowly, meaningfully. slow expansion and that is all--like you mean it.

New traditional archer here, I am mindblown! I'm going to need lessons from the master. I've never seen so many traditional bows in one place, where are you located? #Roadtrip #askTomSr

is the online course only for traditional shooter or will it help with compound also?
@RMSGear18 ай бұрын
With a traditional bow, there is much more complexity because we need to build a repeatable holding position by using specific body mechanics to do things like: repeat your draw length, find repeatable skeletal alignment, repeat your head position, understand and memorize aiming gaps, and find the exact anchor points every time. With a compound, the bow does pretty much all of this for you. With a compound, you have to rely on the tech to set it up right in order to achieve these goals. So, because the course spends so much time explaining the complexity to do this with a recurve, much of the course will not apply. Is there information in the course that would help - yes there is. But I would say that only 15% to 20% of the course would make some differences. One on one instruction would be more efficient and valuable. If you can't find a high level coach and you don't live near me, I can do video conference lessons. Most people only really need two lessons. The first one is all about your trigger press, the use of back tension to activate it, the how and the why. The second lesson is about form, injury prevention, stable positions, reducing pin float. I hope this helps. Give us a call if you have any questions! --Tom

btw... that bow pile behind you guys there is somewhat insane! Some of the finest makes available there. Those Chastain wapiti bows are especially intriguing! Everyone says they are among the fastest bows theyve ever shot, look weird and can be slightly rough on finish! would love to see one shoot some day! cheers
