"Always be mindful for signs of Life." That's a Biggy and it dovetails nicely with " Do the right thing when no one is looking."

We all make mistakes, but it’s far better to learn from those that made them before us. One of my old bosses once told me, “those who never made a mistake, never did a damn thing”. RIP Earl Thanks Kari!

I'm 44 and the circle has come around to our friends parents passing away. It's been a rough 2 years for all and now we are sending lots of cards, flowers, donations and well wishes. It's something we're all dealing with and appreciate the help of everyone involved from the florist to the funeral director to the people digging the ground or sealing the vault. All important.

I’m a trainee funeral director/embalmer in Northern Ireland and I have heard so many of these wee knowledge nuggets from my mentors and colleagues, especially under promise and over deliver and never say no to a family, always say we will try our very best. Honesty is key, we help one another when mistakes are made but we need to own up or it cannot be rectified. Thank you for sharing these!

How about doing a video for families that give 20 tips on how not to get ripped off by a mortuary or funeral home. This information is desperately needed by the general population in America.

@@KaritheMortician yeah, I wouldn’t do your viewers a favor either. Let them get screwed by your industry. They are too mentally distraught to figure out they are getting hosed until it’s too late. Yeah, thanks…for nothing.🤪

Reminds me of something we had in the cop career field in the US Air Force. It was called "Lessons Learned". It covered a lot of stupid things people did in our career field spanning from when we started out as Air Police in the 40's up to modern times as Security Forces. One for instance was about an Airman and his partner responding to an incident and forgetting to put the car in park when he got out. They went to get their gear

Bodies are removed in station wagons so as not to upset patients in the nursing home.. My uncle did sit up in the casket - the funeral person just pushed the body down and explained it was just a reaction that sometimes happens -

Oops. They went to get their gear and their car took of without them. They finally caught it after it hit some immovable object. I also liked your talking about doing what's right even when no-one is looking. That's Integrity and it is something sadly missing in the younger generations. Here is another idea that fits. "There are no stupid questions, just the one you didn't ask." Translating into, ask the question, even if you know the answer, because someone else in the room might not know it. That is what I always tried to teach my subordinates. Along with remembering their oath of enlistment, when and if, the government becomes tyrannical and goes against the Constitution of the United States of America. RGM

No one has ever died from lack of sleep? Hmmm...possibly true, but I do know of some folks who almost died from falling asleep at the wheel while diving home from being on-call. Sleep deprivation is not healthy by any means.

Fax for the police escort the morning of a funeral AND call them an hour later to confirm the cemetery address..just bc they’re reading the address doesn’t mean the escort will go to the right cemetery. 🫣
