Tom Snyder had real conversations with celebrities unlike today's late night shows, his format is unlike any other, he slipped up at times making him very relatable and he is an icon in broadcasting and that's why I love Tom Snyder

@@advids5572 In the St. Louis area where I live, KMOV didn’t air Snyder’s show until 1998, so it’s great to see these shows. There was a tie in to a radio version of this show. Elliot Forrest hosted the radio version for the first 90 minutes, then simulcast the television show. Forrest returned to wrap up the last 30 minutes on radio, sometimes with Snyder on with him.

Tom wanted to have a sure thing for his final show. He didn't have to worry. Classy guys.

Tom Snyder seemed like such a genuine guy. It’s hard not to like him. And it’s too bad there’s no real thoughtful, audience-less style talk show like Tom did on the air today. No fake laughter, no childish game-show/karaoke segments, no cheap humor and fashionable political sermonizing… just thoughtful conversation. We need more of that.

... Well this Olde Chunk of Coal is olde enough to remember Tom Snyder's first iteration in the 70's North of the 49th out of one of our "go to" Buffalo, NY affiliates at the time. Thanks for posting AD Vids! These are Classic.

The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder was a lot more chill than Kilborn's, Ferguson's and Corden's.
@FredLord-sp4ymАй бұрын
They could have continued with this format and a younger host, but networks were chasing after youth with music and scripted comedy.

He had the best late night show as he had no annoying writers unlike every other late night host. Craig kilborn killed the Late Late Show. Even Craig ferguson's version isn't even funny but this is probably the best version of the show. This guy felt like a less-biased version of Greg Gutfield

Craig always seeemed mediocre to me. When he took over for TS it was a big deal. Once Jimmy Kimmel started on ABC, Craiggers lost interest and soon departed. Good for him. He seems happy with his decision.

Dennis Miller, the only man that brings up references no one understands unless you're a student of history.

Trying to come up with the most obscure references to make yourself sound smart and mysterious is such a pretentious thing to do

Sad not everyone got the references Miller made. Nothing obscure there 🤷🏼♀️

I never really thought about it, but I suppose the set is visually suggestive of them being at the center of the city on top of a skyscraper

It was breathtaking to see in person. Kathleen Anker's greatest work besides Dave's last "Late Show" set.

Craig Ferguson in fact had done a few shows in the format and style of this iteration of TLLS. I for one am so grateful that at least some of both the *Snyder and Ferguson versions* of this show (1995~2023) are avaliable here!

Whatever happened to Tom Snyder? We didn’t really see much of him after this (his last show) until he died in July, 2007. All I ever heard was that he had this online blog or something until he disbanded it in 2005.

TS filled in as a guest host for two episodes of *The Late Show with David Letterman* dubbed "Late Show Backstage" when Dave is still recuperating from his successful Quintuple heart bypass surgery in February 2000.

Tom was the classiest of class acts. His kind is sorely missing these days. Hopefully those Colotini's are delicious in the afterlife.

How did Dennis Miller make these references? I wonder if he just pre-wrote them and had a photographic memory.
@SladeBling Жыл бұрын
It was his schtick I think he always had 5 committed to memory and made sure to use them at the right time. He made millions from them.

I love both of these guys , but to talk about being bored with their career choices etc., etc., etc. Blah , blah, blah . Most of us don't get half of a chance to have such a career as Dennis Miller and Tom Snyder . Even young kids in show business would give their 'eye teeth for such a chance . Not to mention us older people who've had dull boring jobs all of our lives . But what do I know .
