Advion Cockroach Gel - performance

Study conducted in response to a request from a customer who wanted confidence that 2 year old aged ADVION Cockroach Gel batch was equally effective as a more recent ADVION batch.
This simple video study shows a large arena (base area approx 1m2). The sides of the arena are coated with fluon to prevent the cockroaches escaping. The 2 ADVION Cockroach Gel batches (04/13 and 11/14) were applied and marked accordingly. A total of 100 mixed age German Cockroaches (medium to large so they are visible on video) were added to the arena with a water source and 2 cardboard roll harbourages. The roaches had previously been starved for 72 hours. The roaches visit both baits and are filmed in a low light situation for a number of hours. Observed roach behaviour in the arena is expected in that once familiar with the surrounds roaches happily leave the harbourages to feed on both gel batches. Over time roaches return and transfer gel to the harbourages which leads to colony demise.
It is clear from this study that there is no difference in palatability and efficacy between the 2 ADVION Cockroach Gel batches.

They say you can’t kill every cockroach, but I think they are wrong and that says a lot about advion. I’v has bad infestations for years, no matter what I did they would come backs I used this product. Within 48 hours they were dead, within 72 hours I hadn’t seen even one. Days turned into weeks, then months and now years later and I have yet to see another one. This IS the greatest roach killer ever, whoever created the formula should get a novel peace prize.

I have been using Advion for about 2 years to keep my house roach free. Watched my exterminator use the stuff so I had to get some. I also like to mix it up and every 3 months use advance roach gel (another really really good gel) so that the roaches cant build up a resistance to the active ingredient in advion.

This is actually a good product. We've bought all the raid sprays/powders n they were trash. This stuff is unbelievable, the only thing that has actually worked and wiped out roaches from our home.

Raid roach gel worked so well for me ! Dead within hours. Sometimes they developed an aversion to gels so you have to use diff ones each time

Sadly Advion is gone. Like the other brands they’ve went to a new formula. The big pest control companies don’t like products that work efficiently because they get people into a years contract and don’t want the roaches gone too quickly. And yes I’ve been doing pest control for almost 37 years.

It is a great product. However: while it's clear that there is no difference in palatability, this study does not empirically prove efficacy, as most if not all roaches ate from both baits. Efficacy will only be proven when all roaches in a group consume only the older bait. This result could then be compared to that of a second group fed only the newer bait. Then you would have a scientific study of the efficacy of the older bait vs. the newer. But good to know older bait should work because I have some that is a few years old also. Thanks for posting!

Now do the same test with a sample from the old and new in different containers. Put time lapse camera on each and post them side by side so it can be seen if there's any difference. Putting them together in one container isn't a true comparison.

I tried this product, but I still see roches so I have to spray them. the other day, I saw a baby roach in the sink. I applied one drop of Advion front of him but looked like he just sniffed without eating and moved on . I think roaches are mutaed and not interested in Advion. I used an entire sylinge applied every where in the kitchen but didn't work. I'll give it one more try with a second sylinge. If it doesn't work, I will try Alpine...

This comment exactly shows that you're not aware of how to use the product. If you apply too much, cockroaches get bait aversion very soon, or if you apply in lines, cockroaches cannot eat them. I think Advion is a good investment to eliminate infestations. But you may need to do a bit more research on how to use it.

Of course, I did research before using it. I watched videos that show how to properly apply Advion, and I followed them. I always applied small tiny dots. never applied too much amount or applied in line. a problem is roaches are not attracted to Advion or might be mutated, immuned to Advion or Combat that previously used. As I said, I will try one more time, and if it doesn't work, I will try Alpine to see if it works better or not...

@@jetaurus Oh I get it! Maybe the roaches have been continuously exposed to Advion before. You can also take a look into Vendetta Plus which also has a reproductive control active ingredient. It is usually recommended after a normal bait like Advion to completely eliminate an infestation. Alpine 1 and 2 also seem to have great reviews! I hope you get rid of your problem! No one should suffer with roaches !!

I purchased two tubes in 2015. It is effective. Half a tube was good in getting rid of most cockroaches in my kitchen. I kept the Advion tubes in a plastic zip lock bag for approximately 3-4 years. When the cockroaches started reappearing in my bathroom instead of the kitchen, I reused the Advion from 2015. It is does not work. I read, what happens is the insecticide is good forever but the bait goes bad. I purchased a new tube, I plan to store this new batch of Advion in the refrigerator. I also plan to supplement this new treatment of Advion with Gentrol IGR.

I also heard it sterilizes the males? And kills the females and eggs... and roaches, being cannibalistic eat the dead carcs and die that way too.
