I used to do pest control about 23 years ago. I had to go out to a trailer in rural Louisiana to get rid of a roach infestation. There were two elderly women living there. The grandson is the one that called us to come out and see if we could do anything. First, the kitchen had so many German cockroaches in the cupboards you could hear them from a good eight feet away. And I'm not talking you could kinda hear them if it was quiet and you tried to hear them. No. It was loud. Each cupboard had literally hundreds of roaches. Next was the ceiling. If you're not familiar with trailer homes, the ceiling has a seam running down the middle where the two (or sometimes more) prefabricated ceiling pieces come together. The seam had a huge gap in it. You could hear thousands of these things in there. I stuck the wand from my canister in there and just started spraying the bug spray inside. Thousands of German cockroaches started flooding out of this seam. They were falling on me and I was disgusted to say the least. Also, there were rat holes in the walls. A lot of them. I seem to remember there being about four or five big ass rat holes. I remember one of the holes was about two feet of the floor because there was this nasty ass pile of bedding that had been in that spot so long that rats made a hole at the base of the top of the bedding instead of the baseboards. How the fuck people live like that is beyond me. I was disgusted and had to stop at my apartment to take a shower and change uniforms after the call. And I had only been there for 45 minutes or so.

Those sticky traps are unironically extremely good at catching bugs. You don't even have to bait them. The things just crawl in and die. Doesn't matter what kind of bug it is. I remember one time I worked at a place with one in the corner of the office. An adult female spider got trapped fairly deep inside, and ended up giving birth right there before she died. The spiderlings formed a "wave" to the exit of the trap. Becoming a semi-circle as like 30-50 or so are stuck and dead and the rest crawled over their sibling's bodies to escape. So yeah, pretty good stuff.
@Unnamed355322 жыл бұрын
Roaches are smart, in terms of hiding in good places. But once their found it’s pretty easy to treat them using simple traps, and spraying the area down to at least limit the infestation

I had to have someone come to treat my house for roaches, mind you, our infestation wasn't anywhere near that horrible. We saw a small young one and I spoke with an exterminator friend right away. He came over and treated our house with just the sticky goop. He told us we were lucky to catch it before it got really bad and to keep an eye out to make sure the bait was working. I asked him how we got them, his answer was scary. He said there were a number of possibilities, then he asked me if we got items delivered to the house from Amazon or other online shopping places. Yes, to which he said, "There's your answer, they hitched a ride inside your package, happens all the time, those warehouses are horrible for infestations. Even the cleanest home can become infested if they have enough stuff delivered."

@@sukuyanthefallen6419 Similar story with silverfish. Moved into a new flat, noticed two at night in the bathroom, some more the next day. I hadn't noticed any in weeks until the day before, saw one crawling out from under the front door. Turns out the building suffered from water damage at some point, there is still water dripping from right under my flat. Since they love humid spots, this is most likely what attracted them.

This reminds me of a unit block I lived in, it was disgusting!! Every unit was infested. When I moved in I seen a few but real easte said don’t worry we got the place sprayed. But then month later in summer oh my gosh I spent my days and nights spraying hundreds of cockroaches. NO JOKE I was horrified. So I called a great pest control guy he came he said there is no point the entire unit block is infested I seen about 50 coming in the front door of the unit block. He said all the units would need spray. So I went the real easte they said forget it do it yourselves. So I moved out applied to the courts got letter from 4 pest control guys to say no one can live in these units like this, left all my belonging as they where infested which I was not happy about and moved. Went to court and won the judge was appalled by the conditions of the unit block and made the real easte pay me for all my belongings and get the unit block completely done by a good pest control company. Sorry the post was long. But yer had my fair share of the horrible little critters!!

I did pest control for a little while and it was always irritating having management at an apartment complex not let you do the job right. They had 2 apartments infested and refused to let us treat both on the same visit because the work order we had with them added an extra charge for anything over 4 units. They were set up for twice a month so we would treat one of the two units, the infestation would move next door. Two weeks later they have us treat the next door unit and the cycle continues. I felt terrible for the people living in those units.

In one bedroom there was a newborn baby sleeping and the roaches were crawling in and out of her mouth and nose, So Gross, the POS Mom was in the other room Smoking Crack, she told me to spray the child's crib with poison while her kid was in it. My family hit a tough spot in life when I was around 15, We went down to the local helping hands/food pantry that gives those in need food to last two weeks. After only using them for a month we got a real bad cockroach infestation, it was so bad they were coming out during the day, and anything we did just made them worse. We shelled out about $2000 that we didn't have to have a pest control guy come to find the problem. Our house wasn't dirty we had actually started cleaning more, he figured out the problem in less than 10 seconds, the boxes the food pantry gave us had cockroaches breeding inside of it. We stopped going to the local food pantry and instead managed to get food stamps, they went away in less than a week. Honest to God it makes me wonder how nasty that food place is and if they are the reason a lot of the poorer neighborhoods have infestations like this.
Pete seems like a real blue collar likeable guy! Keep doin your thing Pete.
