I’m just tuning in so I can hear millionaires tell me how work shy I am for working 10 hours a day for minimum wage and not being over the moon about it :)

Believe it or not, people aren’t jumping at the chance to jump out of their bed in a probably depressing grotty room, in a depressing grotty house which they probably spend a depressing grotty amount of money on - to then drag themselves down their depressing grotty street onto the depressing, grotty bus and into their depressing grotty workplace. The chattering classes just don’t get it. Peoples souls are dying, people aren’t robots.

Maybe we just don’t want to work our arses off for a company that doesn’t give a crap about us. No employers now value their staff and they will get rid of you in a instant if it means their shareholders get more cash. I work part time 10am - 3pm Monday to Friday for myself. I don’t earn a lot of money but just enough to get by. I go on 3 holidays a year as I want to enjoy my life not sat in front of a computer for 10 hours a day for some millionaire at the top.

Why is Peter on? Work is good for the pocket? Is he off his head. Most people who work minimum wage don't get paid anywhere near enough. Feel sorry for them

It’s a great life who isn’t slogging their guts out for £12 a hour . If the government hadn’t allowed the EU to move all the industries over to Europe under the pretence that it was our interest. Help the companies to start up again pay these people a liveable wage and make it work for the workers . Stop using cheap labour that arrives by boat . And stop paying so much in benefits . I read a post that a women that claims she is unable to work due to her mental health complaining she only gets £1890 every 4 weeks to live on saying she doesn’t have to pay her rent but the system wants me to pay a per of my council tax . It made me aware of how rubbish I am trying to live on £860 every 4 weeks as an OAP who worked and payed into the country for 51 yrs look at that

The reason is that there is no industrial industry like there was in the past, and AI is now going to replace many roles, which means fewer jobs. Most goods are imported. Call centres are increasingly outsourced abroad. Our town centres are largely empty of stores. The system has done this to the people, not the other way around. Companies are making cutbacks because of bad government policies, and the economy isn't good.

Productivity comes down to what a nation produces. We produce little because over regulation has made the UK unattractive for manufacturers

Bleksley who i usually agree with is being patronising here saying there are 900000 vacancies for people to pick from. That may be true across the country but if they are not in your area and you cannot afford to move, what are you supposed to do.
@sarries13 сағат бұрын
Perhaps if people could actually afford to buy a house, live a life etc then they would be encouraged to work harder.Peyer was lucky enough to live in an era where you could do those things, yet is ignorantto the fact that many youngsters now can only dream of having what he took for granted.

No you don't need to work 60-70 hours a week to feel a sense of self worth. You're not obligated to run yourself down to the ground. I work 37 hours a week for £1900 a month take home. I'm in Newcastle and more than comfortable. 🎉
